Xiao Muyun

Xiao Muyun is Li Qingxiao’s son and the heir of the Xiao family’s Mount Yu branch. Assistance from his mother’s Li relatives preserves his position during a family crisis, and he later turns that kinship bond into substantial official diplomacy. (Chapters 463, 908, and 1039–1040)

Biography

A rescued heir and a family envoy

Muyun’s father and grandfather die in the same crisis, leaving him and his mother dependent on Li assistance. Spirit Stones and talismans help them retain Mount Yu despite hostile old retainers. At twelve or thirteen, already at the third Embryonic stage, he visits Yuanping with gratitude and returns seventy borrowed Spirit Stones. His courteous conduct preserves the connection between the two households while affirming that survival has not erased his obligations. He later accompanies his mother on visits, having entered Qi cultivation and eventually Foundation Establishment; at her reunion with Chen Donghe he introduces himself respectfully as a grandson. (Chapters 463, 641, and 908)

As head of the Mount Yu branch and steward of a Xiao outer branch, Muyun returns after Ximing’s Purple Mansion attainment with a parchment recording a major gift. Of 127 affiliated families along the region, seventy-nine west of Cloud Crowned Peak are presented to the Lis. Although his maternal kinship makes him senior to Zhouwei in the family hierarchy, he salutes the acting Li family head formally instead of demanding precedence. The transfer restores important territory and resources, but does not eliminate Zhouwei’s need to inspect the Xiao family’s political arrangements. Muyun’s gratitude has matured into institutional service between clans with distinct interests. (Chapters 1039–1040)

Appearance and personality

As a youth he is bright-eyed and humble in receiving praise. Later he appears in black with a stern expression, and by his diplomatic visit he is a middle-aged cultivator who combines familiar warmth with careful observance of official rank. (Chapters 463, 641, 908, and 1039)

Abilities and cultivation

He reaches the third Embryonic stage at twelve or thirteen, early Qi cultivation while still looking under thirty, and Foundation Establishment by his mother’s reunion with Chen Donghe.
