Wu Shaoyun
Wu Shaoyun is an early Foundation Establishment cultivator who joins Yu Xiaogui’s expedition against the Li Family while investigating his daughter’s disappearance and presumed death. He wants an answer, but the escalating battle forces him to choose between inherited grievances and a conflict whose risks exceed his confidence. (Chapters 265, 267–268, 272–273)
Biography
A family search caught inside a feud
Shaoyun meets Yu Xiaogui at a ceremony, then hears Xiaogui’s family arguing about the Li clan’s recent moves. He decides to accompany him, saying the Wu Family has investigated the disappearance of his daughter for ten years and has found clues at Moongaze Lake. At his first formal meeting with Tongya, Shaoyun explains that his daughter disappeared during the destruction of the Moongaze Lake marketplace. His special foundation and talismans lead him to infer that the killer was likely a fourth- or fifth-layer Qi cultivator surnamed Wan, so he initially rules out Tongya, who has since reached Foundation Establishment. Xiaogui turns the inquiry into a charge against Tongya, linking Shaoyun to a feud he had not originally intended to join. (Chapters 265, 267)
When Xiaogui attacks, Shaoyun hesitates, then retreats to support him from a distance as Tongya’s sword overwhelms their side. The arrival of Fei Wangbai shifts the battle, and Xiaogui eventually withdraws. Shaoyun takes this opening to approach Tongya and explain that his presence was meant to resolve his doubt about his daughter, not express hostility. He acknowledges that cultivators risk death when they fight over treasures and says the marketplace chaos may have cost her life. Tongya does not reveal that he personally killed her after she attacked over stolen artifacts; instead, the two accept a cautious truce. Shaoyun leaves and invites the Li Family to visit the Wu Family. (Chapters 268, 272–273)
Appearance and personality
Pale-faced and slender, Shaoyun dresses in flowing robes and carries a fan. He is restrained and unreadable in conversation, but his fierce eyes reveal anger over his daughter’s death. He supports a friend yet grows visibly cautious when the Li Family’s stronger sword cultivators enter the dispute. (Chapters 265, 267–268)
Abilities and cultivation
Shaoyun is explicitly at early Foundation Establishment when he confronts Tongya. His personal investigation uses a special foundation and custom talismans to infer that his daughter was killed by a Qi cultivator named Wan. These methods narrow the field but do not identify the killer: Tongya’s cultivation and surname initially lead Shaoyun to exclude him. When the attack begins, Shaoyun provides distant support but avoids direct engagement with Tongya. (Chapters 267–268, 272–273)
Relationships

- Li Tongya: The man Shaoyun initially questions about his daughter, then approaches to make peace. Tongya is in fact her killer, though Shaoyun leaves without learning this. (Chapters 267–273)
- Wu Family ancestor and unnamed daughter: Her disappearance motivates a decade-long search; Shaoyun believes she was killed by a fourth- or fifth-layer Qi cultivator surnamed Wan. (Chapter 267)
Items
He carries a fan, and special talismans assist his investigation. No named item or talisman is established. (Chapters 265, 267)
