Tiangui
Tiangui is a senior Golden Feather Daoist Master whose wariness about threats to his sect accompanies his search for an inheritance suited to its Dao lineage.
Biography
Guarding the sect’s interests in Wu
Long stationed in Wu State for the Golden Feather Sect, Tiangui reacts sharply to Xue Yang’s movements and the absence of the sect’s True Monarch. He fears the danger posed by a peak Purple Mansion cultivator and questions how the Golden Feather cultivators can remain at ease while the regional balance is unsettled. Though he is Tianhuo’s martial uncle and much older and stronger, the two belong to a near-brotherly generation within their long-lived lineage. (Chapter 1497)
During the grotto-heaven expedition, Tiangui studies the sect’s prospects rather than pursuing every available treasure. He explains to Tianhuo that the Two Bright Rites of Layered Fire best suits their Dao lineage, while other Merging Fire artifacts can harm the spirit and mind unless paired with a protective spell. He searches near the Dao towers and later secures two treasures after receiving advance word that they had emerged, including one from the Ni Family. A later report places him in Lacquer Marsh, though his purpose there is not given. (Chapters 1586, 1614, 1695)
Appearance and personality
Tiangui is a burly cultivator with a fiery temper. He voices anxiety about the danger facing the Golden Feather Sect and is careful about artifacts whose use could damage the spirit or mind. (Chapters 1497, 1586)
Abilities and cultivation
At the secret realm, the mirror in Tiangui’s hand reflected a faint purple trace, but its name and function are not explained. He also opened a palace door with a sweep of his sleeve. His conversations show detailed knowledge of the grotto heaven’s relics and their risks, but no named technique or exact cultivation realm is established. (Chapters 1563, 1586)
