Shen Yanqing
Shen Yanqing is a direct daughter of the Shen Family and a disciple of the Purple Smoke Gate. Her thunder cultivation gives her common ground with Li Qinghong, while her family’s political interests sometimes put them at odds.
Biography
A fellow thunder cultivator
Shen Yanqing welcomes Li Qinghong to the Purple Smoke Gate and explains that her family has practiced thunder arts for generations. She studies the Celestial Cloud Thunder Technique and teaches Qinghong that thunder cultivators should avoid blood-qi pills, which can stunt their progress and shorten their lives. Their shared path and Yanqing’s courtesy establish a respectful connection. (Chapters 560–562)
The Profund Thunderstone dispute
When Miao Quan confronts Yanqing over her Profund Thunderstone, she holds her ground until Li Qinghong intervenes. Yanqing calls Qinghong “Sister” as the two fight together, then withdraws with her when her father arrives. She explains that the turmoil around Yue Cultivating Sect has left her family exposed and unable to spare an escort. (Chapters 739–741)
Counsel on the Eastern Sea
When her master faces death, Yanqing promises to help the Shen Family if the master is reborn. She later visits the Li Family, brings Qinghong a Celestial Thunder sacrificial method, and warns her about the Dragon Clan’s campaign against thunder cultivators. She raises Xi Zikang as a major threat and presses Qinghong to consider the danger of the coming grotto-heaven conflict; Qinghong refuses to attack a friend who has treated her honorably without cause. (Chapters 948, 964–965)
Appearance and personality
Yanqing is a poised and courteous cultivator who introduces herself with proper deference to senior practitioners. She is warm toward Qinghong, but speaks deliberately when discussing the Shen Family’s vulnerabilities and the approaching Eastern Sea conflict. (Chapters 560, 741 and 964–965)

Yanqing cultivates Celestial Cloud Thunder through the Celestial Cloud Thunder Technique. She is an early Foundation Establishment cultivator by the time Miao Quan pursues her, and uses a small mirror to redirect his lightning.
