Murong En

Murong En used a borrowed spirit artifact and a reforming demonic body in the northern campaign against the Azure Pond forces. His pride after their defeat concealed how expendable he had become to the higher powers negotiating the battle's outcome. (Chapters 804–810)

Biography

A useful combatant abandoned

Murong En joined Tang Shedu's attack on Li Xuanfeng, using Qi Wang's Profound Heaven Hearing to anticipate the archer's targets and encourage Tang's conversion through killing karma. Xuanfeng's arrows still cut away his black qi and forced him to acknowledge the strength of the man who had killed Murong Wu. Tang rejected his attempts to direct the conversion, leaving En resentful at being sidelined by stronger fighters. When Zipei's seal separated Xuanfeng and Tang from the surrounding battle, En attacked the Azure Pond cultivators, defeated them and emerged confident that the encounter had favored his side. (Chapters 804–806, 809)

En then mocked the depleted Xuanfeng without perceiving the three Daoist Masters nearby. Pi Jia had already agreed to surrender the spirit artifact, effectively abandoning its bearer. Qiushui's command made En approach in submission, tear out and stab his own heart, then offer the orb from his body to Zipei. His demonic body collapsed while he maintained the respectful posture; the artifact returned to its former holders and his allies later learned of his death. His battlefield success could not protect him once the bargain concerned a treasure more valuable than himself. (Chapters 809–811, 824)

Appearance and personality

En has thick brows and a demonic human form that can disperse into black mist. He regards himself as exceptional despite not being a Murong prince, and reacts bitterly when other combatants leave him unable to intervene. (Chapters 804, 806, 810)

Abilities and cultivation

His mud-like body disperses and reforms, and his stomach releases black qi, dharma artifacts and human-shaped shadows. Qi Wang's Profound Heaven Hearing warns him of Xuanfeng's intended target, allowing him to dissolve an arm before an arrow strikes. This protection is incomplete: golden Astral Qi still cuts away his mana when arrows hit. The artifact also responds to the Xinyou Pristine Marsh Seal, recognizing it, but neither his body nor his equipment resists Qiushui's final command. (Chapters 804, 806, 810)

Relationships

  • Tang Shedu: His ally in the ambush, who rejected En's attempt to steer his karmic conversion. (Chapter 805)
  • Li Xuanfeng: Opposed him in battle and witnessed his compelled death. (Chapters 804–810)
  • Pi Jia: Agreed to surrender the artifact, leaving En without protection. (Chapter 809)

Items

Qi Wang's Profound Heaven Hearing was given to En by his master and carried within his body. He extracted its pearl-sized azure orb at the command of the Daoist Masters, and Zipei took it as his body collapsed. (Chapters 804, 810)
