Mang Huazi

Mang Huazi was a patterned python demon who accepted blood food from Hidden Cloud Cave and invoked the North Brocade River King's backing. His misidentification of Li Zhouwei brought the arrangement to an abrupt end. (Chapters 1060–1063)

Biography

Captured under a failed patronage claim

Mang Huazi accepted Hidden Cloud Cave's blood food and provided access to his king, linking the local cultivators to the waterfolk's wider arrangements with Baiye Capital Immortal Dao. He mistook the golden-eyed Zhouwei for a powerful demonic visitor and spoke openly of that relationship before Hidden Cloud cultivators exposed Zhouwei's identity. Trying to retreat, he found his bone artifact caught by the halberd and his concealing black radiance pierced. Forced back into python form and pinned through a vital point, he begged that his king be consulted before he was killed. (Chapter 1060)

The king's arrival failed to rescue him: Ying Hebai bowed to Zhouwei and ordered his steward Shui Zhao to kill the offending python. Zhouwei stopped the execution, later sealed Mang Huazi's cultivation and removed him while ordering lesser demons to claim that he was in seclusion. This preserved the Li family's initiative while it dealt with Hidden Cloud Cave and the waterfolk. Mang Huazi's mountain subsequently became a boundary in the reorganized territories, and Zhouwei handed the captive to the white ape for safekeeping. (Chapters 1061–1063, 1075, 1077)

Appearance and personality

In human guise he wears a gaudy robe; his true form is a brilliantly patterned python. His boast that he did not fear the Li family gives way to humiliation and terror when his opponent proves stronger than expected. (Chapter 1060)

Abilities and cultivation

Mang Huazi is a mid-stage Foundation Establishment demon who uses demonic wind and the Immortal Foundation art Veiling Dust Mist. The latter produces black radiance around his body to evade the tracking brow-light, but Zhouwei penetrates it and forces him out of human form. His bone-like defensive artifact prevents an immediate defeat until the curved halberd hooks it. His cultivation is subsequently sealed. (Chapters 1060, 1063)
