Gongsun Baifan

Gongsun Baifan rose from a Jiangbei rogue cultivator to a guest cultivator of the Baiye Capital Immortal Dao. His disciplined blade arts made him a dependable field fighter, while his outsider standing left him little authority over the sect’s political decisions. (Chapters 1070, 1074, 1094)

Biography

A guest cultivator on the front line

Baifan first speaks for the Capital Immortal Dao in a tense territorial dispute, urging mediation but falling silent when Li Minggong makes clear that he cannot decide the matter. When violence breaks out, he draws his blade, pulls a companion out of danger, and shields her with Geng Metal radiance. In the later river battle, he throws himself back into the fight when Guan Gongxiao is under pressure: Baifan understands that if the Dao’s heir falls, the consequences for a guest cultivator like himself could be severe; he decides to fight rather than wait to be left to fend for himself. Li Zhouwei’s counter to Pit Water overwhelms Baifan’s blade and water-dragon arts, and a halberd strike tears his self-made raincoat and sends him falling. He survives the defeat. (Chapters 1070–1071, 1091–1095)

A seasoned envoy

Baifan remains in the Capital Immortal Dao’s service after the battle. Years later, a demonic cultivator’s talismans badly wound him, but his deeper cultivation and years spent learning spell arts let him survive. The Dao still sends him to deliver a request for aid; he conveys the danger even as fear lingers and his injuries remain serious. By Chapter 1410, he leads the sect’s cultivators to greet Li Ximing, bowing as a respectful representative rather than a decision-maker. (Chapters 1331, 1410)

Appearance and personality

Baifan has thick brows and large eyes, and is often seen in a straw raincoat with a blade at his waist. He is composed and courteous in negotiation, but acts quickly to protect companions and persists in battle even when badly outmatched. (Chapters 1070–1071, 1091, 1331)

Abilities and cultivation

Baifan is a blade cultivator whose lineage is the Pit Water art Jing Dragon King. His Geng Metal blade radiance can shield an ally, and his blade technique lets him contend with Foundation Establishment opponents. In the river battle, he also calls up three water-dragon forms, but Li Zhouwei’s Armor Cycle Soul-Refining Halberd Art proves an effective counter. Baifan later broadens his command of spell arts, enough to survive a demonic cultivator’s three powerful talismans. (Chapters 1071, 1074, 1094–1095, 1331)
