Chilu
Chilu is a powerful but opportunistic Merciful One whose long rivalry with Five-Eyed does not prevent him from urging their cooperation when it suits his campaign. He is killed in the later battle against Li Zhouwei after his dharma body is overwhelmed. (Chapters 767, 1697, 1700, 1714)
Biography
Rivalry turned into a temporary alliance
Chilu’s Buddhist territory lies beside Five-Eyed’s, and the two have clashed for years. When he sees a chance to draw Five-Eyed into action, Chilu bluffs that their Arhat has died in Jiangnan and mocks his rival’s caution, pressing him to join the effort. Much later, Chilu again argues for the benefits of a southern campaign: even if they cannot kill Li Zhouwei, they may humble him and seize immortal artifacts. The partnership remains uneasy, shaped by mutual ambition rather than trust. (Chapters 767, 1697)
A destructive stand against Li Zhouwei
In an earlier battle with Li Ximing, Chilu uses his Geng-Metal pagoda and flame expertise to suppress the burning effects around him. When Bright Yang light destroys both his arms, he sacrifices his long-nurtured alms bowl rather than let the Heaven-Venerating Gate pin him beneath it or take the bowl; its explosion makes Ximing’s divine ability waver. Later, Chilu joins the assault on Li Zhouwei and attacks with a golden-red sword, but Zhouwei’s spirit treasure and converging powers leave him disoriented and shatter his crystal-like dharma body. Zhouwei later receives Dao-conduct feedback from Chilu’s death. (Chapters 1347–1349, 1699–1700, 1714)
Appearance and personality
Chilu is described as red-faced, with scars that twist across his face. In battle he manifests a six-armed form carrying two spears, two shields, and two swords; four fierce eyes and a winged tiger accompany this dharma body. His confidence does not prevent practical caution when he risks losing his pagoda. (Chapters 1348, 1697)
Abilities and cultivation
Chilu serves under the Golden Lotus Throne and ranks among its strongest Merciful Ones, though his exact cultivation realm is unknown. His six-armed golden form supports attacks and defense at once, and he can use flames to suppress fire around a Geng-Metal pagoda. Against Li Ximing, he begins forming seals for divine-ability empowerment but breaks off when the Heaven-Venerating Gate threatens to suppress his pagoda. Later, his protective light and body are badly damaged by Bright Yang light and True Fire. Against Li Zhouwei, layered artifacts and arts initially restrain Zhouwei, but a spirit-treasure strike and the ensuing assault leave Chilu unable to resist the destruction of his dharma body. (Chapters 1347–1350, 1700)

- Round alms bowl: Chilu releases the bowl from his waist after losing both arms, then sacrifices it against the Heaven-Venerating Gate to escape. It explodes in the clash. (Chapter 1349)
