S-30 Prosthetic Shield Arm
The S-30 Prosthetic Shield Arm is the mechanical replacement Han Xiao builds after Herlous loses his left arm, restoring ordinary function and adding defensive equipment while leaving an important limitation on his Pugilist combat.
History
Replacement after DarkStar
Han Xiao constructs the prosthesis after Ember disintegrates Herlous's arm. Its nerve connection gives Herlous responsive control, and its armored structure includes a compact shield, allowing him to return to active duty rather than remain disabled. The replacement nevertheless cannot conduct Pugilist Energy like living tissue, so it restores practical function without fully replacing the lost limb's combat potential. (Chapters 407 and 489)
Restoration of the original limb
The prosthesis remains part of Herlous's equipment through later missions while Han Xiao continues looking for a biological solution. Aurora ultimately expends life energy to regrow Herlous's original arm. Once the restored limb can again circulate Pugilist Energy, the S-30 no longer serves as his permanent replacement. Abilities and properties
- Uses a nerve-linked interface to reproduce the ordinary movement of a missing arm. (Chapter 407)
- Incorporates armor and a deployable shield for protection. (Chapters 407 and 489)
- Cannot generate or channel Pugilist Energy as effectively as Herlous's biological limb. (Chapter 489)
- Is a functional prosthesis rather than a cure; Aurora's later regeneration makes it unnecessary. (Chapters 523 and 525)
