Evolutionary Totem

The Evolutionary Totem is a manufactured device derived from the Evolution Cube's effect, turning access to biological evolution into a product whose distribution reshapes relations among galactic civilizations.

History

From treasure to product

After obtaining the Evolution Cube, Han Xiao develops a way to package a related evolutionary effect into Totems. This allows the benefit to reach populations without transferring custody of the original Universal Treasure. The new product immediately attracts state interest because biological improvement can affect military quality, population potential, and long-term national power rather than merely strengthening one buyer. (Chapters 902–913)

Control, theft, and diplomacy

The Crimson Dynasty initially restricts legal distribution, while other civilizations and private actors seek access through negotiation, covert acquisition, or theft. Han Xiao's production role gives the Black Star Army exceptional economic and political leverage, but it also makes the Totem network a persistent source of pressure. Debates over sale rights and stolen examples pull the Federation of Light and Arcane Church into a conflict that is commercial, strategic, and diplomatic at the same time. (Chapters 929–942)

Continuing strategic value

Even after the initial dispute, Totems remain an established consequence of Han Xiao's ownership of the Cube. Their value demonstrates that a Universal Treasure can transform galactic society through controlled replication of its effect, while their regulated circulation lets Han preserve the original Cube and bargain over access rather than surrender it. (Chapter 1082)

Abilities and properties

  • Can be deployed for population-scale benefit without transferring the original Cube. (Chapters 902–913)
  • Is manufactured and distributed rather than being a unique naturally occurring Universal Treasure. (Chapters 904 and 910)
  • Its strategic value makes production rights, legal sales, theft, and reverse engineering matters of inter-civilization policy. (Chapters 929–942)
