Stephanie

Stephanie is an ancient Calamity Grade Esper who once protected the Antarr Civilization before Thousand Shadows destroyed its surviving population and converted her into one of his “shadows.” Centuries later, she leads the replacement team sent to complete Albert's hunt, becoming Han Xiao's principal opponent in an ambush on Planet Aquamarine.

Biography

Mutation Disaster and the Secret War

Thousand Shadows awakens Stephanie with incomplete memories and embedded loyalty, after which she takes command of nine other shadows and continues Albert's mission. She chooses Planet Aquamarine as bait, manipulates the Six Nations' leaders through a subordinate Psychic, and attempts to surround Han without attacking his base directly. Han recognizes her from his previous life, where she remained active until a much later mass battle and became a popular dungeon boss after death; that earlier-timeline fate is not her present history. In the current timeline, Han uses knowledge of that dungeon to counter her resonance abilities, receives reinforcements, defeats the team, and imprisons her. Because Thousand Shadows can share his shadows' senses, Han kills her rather than risk continued surveillance. Her original self briefly surfaces at death, showing relief and gratitude and leaving a wish to find any surviving Antarrian bloodline. (Chapters 647, 652, and 664–680)

The Evolution Cube and Crimson Dynasty

Stephanie does not return to life during this period. Han later develops the close-range Tiger Roar technique by imitating the armor-piercing resonance principle of her Esper ability, demonstrating the technical legacy of their fight without implying that she trained him or survived. A later account of dangers brought to Planet Aquamarine also recalls her attempted ambush as an earlier crisis. Both references are retrospective and leave her Chapter 680 death unchanged. Appearance and personality

When first awakened, Stephanie appears as a beautiful unclothed woman whose blank, lifeless eyes gradually regain animation. She usually wears a cold, calm expression and speaks softly; after imprisonment, her face is pale, but she shows little response to pain. The shadow conditioning makes her calculating, ruthlessly destructive, and unhesitatingly loyal to Thousand Shadows, even erasing much of her old identity. Fragments of the earlier protector remain beneath that control: the resemblance between Aquamarine and her lost home affects her deeply, and at death her true self expresses relief at release. (Chapters 647, 664–665, 672, and 680)

Abilities and class

Stephanie is a veteran Calamity Grade Esper specializing in vibration and resonance. She can impose multiple remote debuffs, disrupt electromagnetic communication, vibrate surrounding matter, shatter machines, and produce nearly invisible impact waves. At close range, she can use a target's body as the transmission medium, bypass armor, and inflict severe internal damage; metal is especially vulnerable to her attacks. She also possesses strong general combat skill and high-speed movement that resembles teleportation. Han's detailed knowledge comes from repeatedly fighting a dungeon version of her in his previous life, not from prior encounters with the current-timeline Stephanie. (Chapters 672–679 and 768)

Relationships

• Thousand Shadows: Stephanie was once an independent protector, but he intercepted the fleeing Antarrians, extinguished their civilization, and remade her as a loyal shadow. Her allegiance is imposed rather than evidence of a freely chosen partnership.
• Han Xiao: Stephanie targets Han as Albert's successor, while Han recognizes her methods from his previous-life dungeon experience. He defeats, captures, and ultimately kills her; her final gratitude suggests she experiences death as release from Thousand Shadows.
• Albert: Stephanie inherits Albert's unfinished hunt and changes his stationary-base method into a mobile ambush plan designed to avoid repeating his mistakes.
• Wilton: Wilton and his companions reinforce Han and help turn the ambush against Stephanie's team. Stephanie seriously wounds him with a resonance attack before the attackers are defeated.

Items

Stephanie has no persistent signature item. Han restrains her after capture with electromagnetic straps and repeatedly extracts genetic material for ability medicines, but those restraints and medicines belong to her captor rather than to Stephanie. (Chapters 677–680)
