Rezar

Rezar, the Pollution Mage, is a Planet Dawn sorcerer who spends twenty years preparing to drain the magic from the region's Origin Water. His pursuit of ascension nearly devastates the planet before the Black Star mercenaries stop him and turn him into a captive source of magical Ability Potions.

Biography

The Black Star Mercenary Group

Rezar builds hundreds of Mojo Puppet Colossuses and a sect of Polluters to supply blood for a ritual that would strip the Southland's Origin Water of magic for centuries. He wants enough power to reach the galactic “higher world” and is willing to sacrifice followers and civilians alike. Han Xiao's intervention breaks the ritual and leaves him captured. When Rex tries to arrange his death, Han takes custody instead and stages a burnt corpse. Rezar receives the ascension he wanted only as a prisoner: Han repeatedly extracts his recovered magic, leaving him weak, aged, and desperate while selling potions derived from his power. Mutation Disaster and the Secret War

By the following year, Rezar has been drained so thoroughly that he can no longer provide useful material for the Super-Gene Extractor. Han therefore releases his former captive rather than keeping him indefinitely. The corpus does not establish where Rezar goes, whether his magic eventually recovers, or whether he ever returns to Planet Dawn. This later notice also clarifies that the apparent death reported by the Blue Shield Knights was only a cover story and not Rezar's actual fate. (Chapter 550)

Appearance and personality

Rezar is an elderly Vainerian who wears an ornate bright-red robe and grows visibly older and more wrinkled when his magic is extracted. Cold, calculating, and contemptuous of his own followers, he considers ordinary planetary life beneath him. His ambition is driven by yearning and envy of galactic civilization, but when stripped of power he quickly becomes fearful, pleading, and consumed by regret. (Chapters 417–422)

Abilities and class

Rezar is a Grade B Mage. He uses a staff, layered defensive arrays, clairvoyance, blood-fueled ritual magic, and control over large numbers of Mojo Puppet Colossuses. Absorbing Origin Water briefly increases his power, and genetic material drawn afterward can produce temporary enhancements such as Origin Water Magic Power or increased magic damage. Magic-suppressing chains and Han's extractor leave him unable to fight. (Chapters 417–426)

Relationships

• Rex: Rex leads the campaign against Rezar and tries to kill him secretly so that neither the crown nor outsiders can preserve his ritual.
• Han Xiao: Han stops the ritual, takes Rezar into galactic custody, repeatedly extracts his magic, and eventually releases him when no more can be obtained.
• Herlous: Herlous guards Rezar while Han and Rex establish the false account of the prisoner's death.

Rezar owns a bright-red magic staff, a golden-framed clairvoyance mirror, ritual arrays, and hundreds of Mojo Puppet Colossuses accumulated over twenty years. His captors restrain him with magic-suppressing chains, which do not belong to him. (Chapters 417–421)
