Rex

Rex is the captain of the Blue Shield Knights, a celebrated war hero of the Vain Kingdom on Planet Dawn. He leads the attempt to stop Rezar's Origin Water ritual and places the safety of the population above his king's order to preserve the culprit for interrogation.

Biography

The Black Star Mercenary Group

Rex rises from civilian life to command the Vain Kingdom's ace army and earns the respect of the allied commanders. When Rezar prepares to pollute the Origin Water, Rex explains that hundreds of thousands of lives are at risk and leads the Blue Shield Knights in a costly assault on the Mojo Puppet Colossuses. After Han Xiao's reinforcements help capture Rezar, Rex secretly arranges the prisoner's death to prevent the ritual from being recovered or rewarded. Han instead takes Rezar away, and Rex cooperates with a staged death while accepting Han's promise that the criminal will never return. (Chapters 417–421)

Appearance and personality

Rex is a tall, blue-skinned Vainerian who wears a knight's visor in battle. He is restrained, rational, and respected enough to silence arguing commanders simply by beginning to speak. His concern for civilian lives is sincere, but it also makes him willing to deceive the crown and arrange an extrajudicial killing when he believes legal custody could preserve a catastrophic spell. Abilities and class

Rex uses magic power that manifests as blood-red and blue currents. He fights from a Ravening Beast mount with a shield and an enchanted spear capable of producing explosive impacts. As captain of three thousand Blue Shield Knights, he combines personal combat ability with battlefield command, but the corpus does not establish his formal Super grade or a named class. Relationships

• Rezar: Rex leads the force that stops Rezar's ritual and later attempts to ensure that he cannot survive or spread its method.
• Han Xiao: Han's mercenaries save Rex's campaign, then persuade him to surrender Rezar and help conceal the prisoner's survival.
