Nilfgadi

Nilfgadi is the first Divine Throne Mechanic in history, founder of the Machinery Faith, and ancestor of the Mechanical Race. Long commemorated as the Original Deity, he returns through Sanctum Revival and attempts to reclaim influence in institutions that evolved while he was dead.

Biography

The Flickering World

Nilfgadi is introduced through the Machinery Faith's history rather than in person. His statue is the temple's largest, and priests invoke him while consecrating Han Xiao as a new Mechanical Deity. As the pioneer who discovered the effect later expressed through the Key of Adeptus Mechanicus, Nilfgadi shaped the faith into its practice of worshipping powerful Mechanics. He is dead during this period, so his shrine has commemorative value even though his honorific name remains part of every prayer ceremony. (Chapter 955)

The World Tree War

Sanctum Revival restores Nilfgadi among historical Beyond Grade As during the World Tree crisis. He accepts temporary screening, recognizes Hila and Aurora's inherited connection to the Underworld's founders, and proposes a future exchange or contest with Han once his equipment is restored. Nilfgadi declares his return to the Mechanical Race and later tries to recover believers and authority from Han and Manison. His historical prestige proves insufficient to displace Han in the Machinery Faith, while Manison gives him a group of Mechanical Race members to establish a separate branch without surrendering existing assets. Despite their rivalry, Nilfgadi and Manison defend the Mechanical Race together when the World Tree attacks. The corpus does not state Nilfgadi's fate after that battle begins. Appearance and personality

Nilfgadi is dark gold-skinned and carries an oppressive aura. He is proud of his achievements and seniority, treating Manison as a descendant and expecting the Mechanical Race to announce its ancestor's return. His attempts to recover authority show ambition and entitlement, but he can also accept practical limits and fight beside a rival when their race is attacked. Abilities and class

Nilfgadi is a historical Beyond Grade A Mechanic and the first Divine Throne Mechanic. He pioneered the mechanical-deity tradition and can deploy a Lord's Avatar, which stands with Manison's avatar during the World Tree assault. Because he has only recently revived and initially lacks a mechanical army, the corpus does not demonstrate the full scale of his peak arsenal or name individual combat machines. • Han Xiao: Nilfgadi recognizes Han as the strongest Mechanic of the current generation and proposes a future discussion or contest. He later tries unsuccessfully to reclaim Machinery Faith influence from him. (Chapters 1352–1353 and 1371)

• Hila and Aurora: Nilfgadi recognizes their abilities as inherited from Nerkese and Eros, figures from his own era, and accepts their explanation of the Underworld succession. (Chapter 1351)

No named personal weapon or surviving historical artifact is assigned to Nilfgadi. His demonstrated combat projection is an unnamed Lord's Avatar, while the mechanical army needed to restore his full strength is only discussed in general terms. (Chapters 1352, 1371, and 1425)
