Kirkmond

Kirkmond is a middle-ranked Void Duke who rules a fortified territory in the Void Dimension. An initially hostile encounter with Han Xiao becomes an exchange of information and military assistance.

Biography

Intelligent Plague and the Association

Kirkmond orders Han and Ames out of his territory until he recognizes Han as a powerful Void being connected to Kasuyi. He then hosts the visitors, gives them coordinates to the dying dimension he calls the Land of Dead Silence, and bargains for their help in a territorial war. When rival Duke Bagdora invades first, Han intervenes, allowing Kirkmond to regain momentum, prevent Bagdora's escape, and claim the defeated duke's core. Kirkmond grants Han a Void mark and friendship but declines any implication of subordinate service. He remains alive and independent when their agreement concludes. (Chapters 1072–1080)

Appearance and personality

Kirkmond's detailed anatomy is not described, though he is a large Void life form who carries a longsword and shield. He is territorial, blunt, opportunistic, and openly envious of stronger Void beings. Formal politeness matters little to him, but he honors bargains and prefers useful alliances to unnecessary fights.

Abilities and class

As a Void Duke, Kirkmond controls void energy, travels by hyperdrive, fights with sword and shield, and commands a Void army. His Void Lock seals local space and can force an escaping enemy out of hyperdrive. He is powerful within his domain but explicitly only middle-ranked among Void Dukes, and no conventional class or numeric grade is supplied.

Relationships

• Han Xiao: Kirkmond shifts from expelling Han to hosting and hiring him. Their successful bargain produces mutual respect, not fealty.
• Ames: Ames accompanies Han through Kirkmond's territory and campaign; no separate personal relationship develops.
• Chaos Mysterious Energy: The Primal Chaos Mysterious Energy transports Han and Ames using Kirkmond's coordinates, but it is not Kirkmond's subordinate or possession.
• Bagdora: Bagdora is a rival Void Duke who tries to consume Kirkmond and is killed after Han intervenes.
