Jayne

Jayne, nicknamed Seaquake, is an independent Calamity Grade Esper who commands a private military. His vibration power makes him the principal attacker when he and Gadeli unexpectedly fight beside Han Xiao against Shana.

Biography

Mutation Disaster and the Secret War

Jayne and Gadeli initially cooperate with Han in a fleet action and agree to a possible joint organization, only for Shana's surprise attack to destroy much of their manpower. Jayne's vibration attacks force her to evade and make him important enough to become an intended capture target. After Han drives Shana away, Jayne rebuilds rather than joining Black Star, preferring command of his own force. He later appears among organizations connected to the campaign against Albert's group; a subsequent comparison with Stephanie recalls his power but does not report his death. (Chapters 632–636, 652, and 674)

Appearance and personality

Jayne is male and is shown bare-chested in battle, with unusually long, flowing chest hair that his species considers attractive. He is proud of that feature, practical about replacing lost troops, and grateful for Han's help. His refusal to become a subordinate is polite and reflects independent ambition rather than hostility.

Abilities and class

Jayne is a Grade A, or Calamity Grade, vibration Esper. He releases destructive shockwaves through gestures and strikes, attacks across a broad area, and can turn the surrounding terrain into ruins. His power is threatening but is explicitly described as less strong, versatile, and wide-ranging than Stephanie's similar ability.

Relationships

• Han Xiao: Jayne fights beside Han, benefits from his intervention against Shana, and remains friendly while declining recruitment.
• Gadeli: Gadeli is Jayne's fellow independent commander and long-range partner. Their organizations take severe losses together.
• Shana: Shana attacks their forces and identifies Jayne as a worthwhile future captive because of his strength.
• Kernid: Both are prominent independent Calamity Grades targeted by the same hunting organization, but no direct personal relationship is established.

Items

Jayne's equipment is described as sophisticated, but no unique weapon or named artifact is assigned to him. His private fleet and rebuilt battleships belong to his organization rather than serving as personal signature items.
