Haier

Haier is Floating Dragon's arthropod logistics manager and a veteran Mechanic in Ames's service. He oversees the island's machinery, warehouses, rare materials, and technical personnel, quietly providing much of the infrastructure that allows Floating Dragon to function.

Biography

The Black Star Mercenary Group

Haier welcomes Han Xiao into Floating Dragon's understaffed logistics department, teaches him its maintenance responsibilities, and supervises access to valuable materials. During Ames's absence, Haier protects the island's Gravitational Core and later approves Han Xiao's allotted Void Dragon resources. When Han Xiao leaves field employment, Haier regrets losing a capable Mechanic and gives him a portable nuclear reactor, recognizing his work while acknowledging that the departure will increase Haier's own workload. Mutation Disaster and the Secret War

Haier continues to coordinate Floating Dragon's supply needs rather than joining the Mutation Disaster's battles personally. He requests materials, appears at the dock when Han Xiao returns with them, briefly forgets to activate his translator, and immediately checks whether the shipment has arrived. Han Xiao then transfers the goods to him before proceeding to meet Ames, confirming Haier's continuing responsibility for procurement and receipt of critical logistics cargo. (Chapters 550–551)

The Evolution Cube and Crimson Dynasty

More than ten years into their acquaintance, Haier remains at Floating Dragon and joins the others in asking Aurora to pass a greeting to Black Star. Aurora is still slightly frightened by Haier's naturally ferocious appearance despite knowing him for years. The scene offers no new promotion or conflict, but it confirms that Haier's intimidating exterior has not prevented a durable place in Floating Dragon's familiar inner circle. (Chapter 728)

Appearance and personality

Haier is a human-sized, two-legged arthropod with six arms, arachnid-like limbs, sharp teeth, and a naturally fearsome appearance. He wears a Mechanic's uniform and uses a communicator that translates his clicking language into an elderly man's voice. In contrast to his looks, he is kind, welcoming, conscientious, and quietly generous, often fading into the background while attending to essential work. (Chapters 373, 386, 391, and 728)

Abilities and class

Haier is described as a very high-level Mechanic, but the corpus does not assign him a grade or detailed combat specialization. He designs advanced aircraft, maintains Floating Dragon's boosters, anti-gravity systems, life support, mineral collectors, and spacecraft, and is trusted to protect the Gravitational Core. • Ames: Haier has served Ames for many years as one of Floating Dragon's senior managers, handling the technical and logistical work that her otherwise informal administration requires.
• Han Xiao: Haier trains Han Xiao in Floating Dragon logistics, recognizes his talent as a Mechanic, controls his access to rare materials, and maintains an amicable professional connection after Han Xiao moves into field work.
• Aurora: Haier is familiar enough with Aurora to send greetings through her, although his appearance continues to make her instinctively uneasy.
