Thea Glasshammer

Thea Glasshammer is a young Wild Rider pledged to Star Crossing and Soulbound to the giant bear Chrysanthemum. After Chrysanthemum is mortally harmed, Thea accepts the mantle of a human Nemesis under Yystrix's influence to preserve her partner. That bargain turns her from Randidly's ally into an antagonist and ultimately leaves her unable to determine whether the being beside her is still the companion she tried to save. (Chapters 299, 313, 588–592, 1297, and 1447–1448)

Biography

Wild Rider of Star Crossing

Thea meets Randidly while he is traveling as “David” with Simon Bliss. She is initially cautious of his allegiance, then welcomes both travelers after learning they do not serve the Skeleton King. Her bond with Chrysanthemum defines her place among the Wild Riders: the enormous bear shares her Stats and Intelligence through Soul Bond, serves as mount and battle partner, and matters to her more than factional prestige. (Chapters 299–313)

The Nemesis bargain

When Chrysanthemum's life is threatened, Thea accepts aid tied to Yystrix and becomes a human Nemesis. The transformation increases her Endurance and combat power but binds her choices to the being sustaining Chrysanthemum. Thea later demands the return of a necessary operative despite that person's crimes, arguing that she pays her debts. Randidly sees the decision as surrendering responsibility to a distant plan, turning former companionship into lethal conflict. (Chapters 487 and 588–592)

A destructive mantle

Thea survives Randidly's attack only through outside intervention and continues operating among other Nemesai, even as they question Yystrix's strategy. She clings to the mantle because abandoning it would mean admitting that Chrysanthemum's sacrifice and the harm inflicted upon humanity achieved nothing. Her destructive image grows powerful enough to restrain other Nemesai and challenge Randidly, but its force rests upon denial, debt, and a hope she increasingly cannot defend. (Chapters 592, 902–912, and 1297)

Doubt after the tournament

After losing to Huang Li in Expira's duos tournament, Thea approaches Randidly without her hammer and asks why Chrysanthemum seems alive only around other people. Randidly offers a theory rather than certainty: inherited reactions may remain while the original life is absent. The possibility breaks Thea's wounded image and leaves her confronting the cost of her choices without a clean answer about her partner's state. (Chapters 1447–1448)

Appearance and personality

Thea is a young woman, only around twenty in her later appearances. Thick fur armor initially makes her look stockier than she is; later she wears practical leather armor and carries heavy hammers or an axe. Her hair appears darker after becoming a Nemesis, while her gaze is described as cold and dead during her confrontation with Randidly. (Chapters 299, 588, 1297, and 1447–1448)

She is brusque, loyal, stubborn, and capable of decisive improvisation. Thea's finest quality and deepest flaw are linked: she refuses to abandon Chrysanthemum, but that devotion makes her accept escalating harm on the promise that obedience will preserve the bond. Doubt develops slowly because she understands that questioning the bargain may also destroy the meaning she assigned to years of violence. (Chapters 311, 588–592, 910, 1297, and 1448)

Abilities and progression

Soul Bond with Chrysanthemum

Soul Bond shares a portion of Thea's Stats, including Intelligence, with Chrysanthemum and allows them to function as rider and companion rather than owner and animal. The enormous bear supplies speed, mass, and powerful water-and-steam attacks. After Yystrix's intervention, however, the bond becomes a vulnerability: Chrysanthemum's continued state is tied to outside power, and even Thea cannot confidently distinguish independent response from inherited habit. (Chapters 299, 313, 588, 910, and 1448)

Heavy-weapon combat

Thea fights at close range with hammers and later an axe, combining substantial strength with quick tactical judgment. Her hammer can strike Randidly hard enough to move him, and she recovers from bodily displacement by conjuring a dagger wrapped in spectral fire, forcing him to accept a wound. Her attacks remain limited by reach and speed; Acri can bind her weapon arm, and faster opponents can redirect her momentum or keep her away from the decisive target. (Chapters 588 and 910)

Nemesis body and destructive image

The Nemesis mantle greatly improves Thea's Endurance and lets her survive injuries that destroy an arm and rupture internal organs, although recovery is not immediate. Her later image evokes fire scraping flesh from the dead, exhausting sacrifice, and a monolith of bones raised toward the moon. It can pressure other Nemesai and reinforce her heavy blows, but emotional contradiction destabilizes it; defeat and the possible truth about Chrysanthemum cause the image to implode. (Chapters 592, 1297, and 1448)

Relationships

  • Chrysanthemum: Soulbound partner and the center of Thea's defining bargain. Chrysanthemum is a companion, never an item.
  • Randidly Ghosthound: Former ally and later antagonist who condemns the harm Thea accepts, then gives her an unwelcome theory about Chrysanthemum.
  • Simon Bliss: Early traveling companion who develops a strong attachment to Thea before her disappearance.
  • Yystrix: Manipulator whose intervention preserves some form of Chrysanthemum and draws Thea into the Nemesis role.

Items

  • Heavy hammers and axe: Thea's recurring close-combat weapons. Individual weapons are not given stable names or uninterrupted custody histories. (Chapters 588, 910, 1297, and 1448)
