Privilege turns sport into retaliation

Larson arrives on the skyisland carrying the dread of Cerulean City, where her father’s authority makes even jokes about execution difficult to dismiss. She repeatedly interferes with Devick’s matches from a luxury box, relying on status and indirect schemes rather than fair play. Devick initially tolerates the plotting as beneath notice, then resolves to get even and attends Larson’s party with Randidly as an imposing companion. Lord Cerulean’s later rebuke confirms that Larson’s confidence depends heavily on paternal protection. (Chapters 2004, 2026–2029)
