Oaka

Oaka is a snake merchant whose cave shop forms part of Eclipse's obstacle course in the Primordial Garden. His enthusiastic salesmanship conceals an extraordinary cultivation choice: whenever the Dao he develops fails to satisfy him, he crushes it and begins again rather than accept advancement on terms he considers wrong. Biography

Trading inside the obstacle course

Oaka welcomes Lex into a suspiciously convenient shop, asks what he needs, and discloses that Celestial Dew is the preferred currency. He neither attacks nor tricks the customer immediately; instead, he relies on an enormous and carefully matched inventory. The encounter reveals that his business extends beyond the canyon, with trade partnerships helping resource-starved Sin City remain viable despite its sealed borders. (Chapters 1907–1912)

Eclipse and Harriot reveal why Oaka remains when other Demi-Dao Lords were evacuated: he has crushed his Dao again because he refuses to advance with one he does not approve of. Later Dao Lords still treat his shop as the obvious source for exceptional goods and select wedding gifts there. Appearance and personality

Oaka is a snake whose attempt at a sincere smile exposes his fangs and looks threatening to human eyes. He is enthusiastic, accommodating, commercially discreet, and extremely exacting about his own path. That perfectionism appears irrational to Eclipse but is consistent with a merchant who insists that only the customer can determine which of many possible wares truly suits them. Abilities and cultivation

Oaka reaches the threshold described as Demi-Dao Lord but repeatedly crushes the nascent Dao he creates instead of completing advancement. The narrative does not explain the rebuilding method, cost, or his combat techniques. His demonstrated specialization is commerce: he sources rare Celestial and apocalyptic goods and maintains trade under the Garden's restrictions.
