Lord Belmont

Lord Belmont is a Crystal-race security official assigned to investigate how the prisoner Ezio contacted Lex from maximum confinement. Initially a controlled escort and representative of Crystal institutional pride, he turns against Lex when hidden failures and personal humiliation make assassination seem preferable to disclosure.

Biography

Investigating Ezio's invitation

Belmont takes personal charge after learning that Ezio, supposedly locked down for centuries, invited Lex to Valesco. He escorts Lex through the prison and explains the impossibility of the contact, projecting confidence in Crystal planning even as the case proves that confidence misplaced. His pride in the facility makes Lex's outsider perspective useful but also threatening, because every discovery exposes a failure Belmont represents. (Chapters 680–683)

Collapse of professional restraint

As Ezio's clone, inaccessible cell, and withheld information reveal deeper institutional decay, Belmont's calm authority hardens into hostility. He attempts to kill Lex rather than allow the encounter's implications to remain outside Crystal control. The attack fails to restore order and instead damages Lex's view of the entire race, turning one official's pride into a diplomatic consequence far larger than the original security investigation. Belmont is a slender Crystal-race man whose exposed crystalline face has a faint green hue; a slim, fitted suit covers the rest of his body. His presence initially produces a calming impression, and a subtle smirk reveals deep pride in Crystal architecture and order. Higher-realm combat

Belmont's cultivation stands above Lex's during their confrontation, giving him the speed, force, and confidence to attempt a lethal resolution. The exact realm and Dao are never named, so assigning him a specific immortal stage would exceed the evidence. His advantage is also not absolute: the complicated prison environment, Ezio's preparations, and Lex's own resilience prevent raw cultivation from restoring institutional control. Crystal authority and presence

As a senior Valesco official, Belmont commands access, investigation, and security responses inside an exceptionally advanced prison. His naturally calming presence and polished manner help establish authority before combat begins. These tools depend on a functioning institution, however, and Ezio's ability to project a clone and seal his own cell demonstrates that Belmont's official access does not equal mastery over every Crystal law or prisoner.
