Vera tells Leslie that a successful reading of Lex can secure exactly what she wants. Leslie fixes her blind upper eyes on his shadow and warns that his future is unusually difficult to predict. The effort drains color from her face and aura, but she identifies grave danger aimed at someone associated with him, future regret, and a formidable blade already in his possession as one of the few mitigating chances.
