Kreel

Kreel is a Zai Elder who tries to overwrite Lex's mind and claim him as a slave. Although already injured, he remains a dangerous Earth Immortal whose confidence in racial superiority and mental domination turns the encounter into a battle inside Lex's strongest spiritual domain.

Biography

Attempted enslavement

Kreel approaches Lex as an apparent Earth Immortal and immediately declares himself Lex's new master. Rather than negotiate, he projects an invisible mental force intended to rewrite resistance into obedience. Lex's unusually powerful mind prevents the conversion from taking hold, and Kaemon's recognition of Kreel as an Elder of a top race explains both the invader's confidence and the danger behind what first looks like a simple encounter. (Chapters 1726–1727)

Battle within the mind

When control fails, Kreel is pulled into a contest on terrain where Lex's spirit is strongest. His prior injuries keep him from expressing an unquestioned advantage, while Lex's resistance forces the Zai Elder to fight a peer he expected to own. The reversal ends Kreel's attempt and leaves him defeated; the narrative establishes the loss but does not provide a later scene confirming whether he died or recovered. (Chapters 1728–1732 and 1740–1743)

Appearance and personality

Kreel initially presents as an Earth Immortal rather than advertising the full significance of his Zai identity. His most defining trait is imperious certainty: he introduces slavery as an accomplished fact, regards mental violation as a legitimate assertion of mastery, and underestimates a lower-profile opponent. Once resisted, that composure gives way to the urgency of an injured predator fighting inside hostile spiritual terrain. (Chapters 1726–1730)

Abilities and cultivation

Mental rewriting

Kreel can exert an invisible force directly on another person's mind, attempting to erase independent resistance and install loyalty to himself. The technique is subtler than ordinary physical coercion and would have overwhelmed a weaker consciousness. Its demonstrated limit is a target whose mental and spiritual foundations can withstand the initial overwrite and force the confrontation inward. (Chapters 1726–1729)

Zai Elder cultivation

Kreel is an Earth Immortal and an Elder of the Zai, a race Kaemon places among the powerful peoples of the realm. Even wounded, he is dangerous enough for Lex to treat him as an exceptional same-realm opponent. His combat strength is therefore not purely psychic, but the narrative does not name his Dao, techniques beyond mental domination, or condition after defeat. (Chapters 1727–1732 and 1801–1802)
