Giselle

Giselle is a cultivator whose ballet, swordsmanship, purified Profane energy, and mastery of Time all grow from the same pursuit of precise control. Introduced anonymously as a Jotun soldier performing at the Midnight Games, she becomes a recurring battle partner of Lex Williams, a hunter of Defilers, and a Heaven Immortal fighting beside humanity's Champions Tourney team.

Biography

Ballerina, soldier, and protector

Giselle first appears behind a disguised appearance while performing ballet at the Midnight Games. Her peak-Golden-core cultivation lets her dance along threads in every orientation, but discipline rather than spectacle defines the pattern of her life: she withdraws from the competition, later performs in the Lady Cosmos pageant, and returns to military duty. On Polebitvy, Lex recognizes her by the same continuous, lethal grace with which she cuts through an insect horde while shielding civilians. (Chapters 128–138, 294, and 725–726)

She refuses Lex's offer of immediate escape because children under her care remain inside the Jotun stronghold. The choice risks her life but succeeds in getting those children off Polebitvy before the planet is stolen, although she remains troubled by the many others she could not save. Her later account of being raised among exploited children by a Defiler-backed organization gives that protectiveness deeper meaning: defending children is a rejection of the system that shaped her own childhood. (Chapters 726, 1182–1183, and 1851–1852)

The Temple of Frozen Dawn

Years later Giselle reaches the Temple of Frozen Dawn with most of her cultivation sealed and works with Lex through darkness, time fractures, and spatially isolated ruins. She uses an Eden watch to detect otherwise imperceptible fractures, absorbs Profane energy without its usual corruption, and trusts Lex to end the time bubble while she defeats a Profanite guarding the Sands of Time. Their cooperation gets both of them through dangers that neither one's specialties cover alone. (Chapters 1182–1194)

The pair reunite in the dying realm being absorbed into the Origin realm and exchange help collecting the artifacts each needs before challenging its central tower. Giselle's control lets her move among different energies and direct Profane energy toward her chosen purpose, while her immortal body survives disasters that batter Lex's still-mortal form. Meditation and training in a Jotun tower later increase her Time mastery, but she remains guarded about the larger objective for which she gathers treasures and tries to keep Lex out of risks connected to her past. (Chapters 1197–1211, 1222, 1244–1255, 1297–1330, and 1344)

Hunting a Defiler and choosing trust

After reaching the ninth Earth-Immortal level, Giselle invites Lex to help hunt a young Defiler whom she has tracked for years. Accustomed to working alone because enemies exploit her relationships, she first limits what she asks of him, then accepts his durability and judgment as assets. At Maro-14 she directs their deception, coordinates civilian evacuation from a world-threatening storm, and uses her expertise to turn the Defiler's confidence in knowing her habits into a trap. (Chapters 1750–1752 and 1836–1846)

Giselle finishes the target with a Time technique that requires thirteen minutes of preparation, steals one moment in which she controls everything the Defiler is, and compresses his remaining essence into his core. The Sands of Time keep the technique from killing her, but she still collapses from overexertion. During recovery she tells Lex how the organization that raised her converted everyone she met into Profanites, how she brought down its local branch as a teenager, and why ensuring consequences for Defilers matters more to her than revenge alone. Confiding that history marks a shift from solitary obligation toward a partnership she expects to continue. (Chapters 1843–1852)

Heaven Immortal and the Tyranum expedition

Giselle returns to the Champions Tourney and remains with Alexander Morrison, Rafael, Larry Dershaw, and their companions at Lex's request. When an inter-realm invasion overwhelms the tourney, she gathers the group behind a Time barrier and becomes one of the principal reasons they survive enemies above their level. By the time she is a new Heaven Immortal, killing a Celestial with Time costs her a hand and burns half her body, leaving the group unable to stop moving while she heals. (Chapters 1852–1885, 2116, 2157–2158, and 2188)

The group eventually enters the Tyranum realm, where human cultivators suffer racial suppression and Tyrannis pursue them. Giselle sustains a Time barrier for days and uses Stasis to slow the destruction of a crumbling sword whose power lets the team kill Celestial opponents. She and Alexander remain the strongest fighters when not channeling the sword, yet their survival depends on collective coordination and Rafael's guidance. By the latest point shown, they have delivered the sword to the hidden Mountain Home while enemies gather outside. (Chapters 2373 and 2385)

Appearance and personality

Giselle initially performs behind a cultivated disguise: flowing brown hair, phoenix-shaped eyes, flawless pale skin, and an ethereal beauty heightened by her ballet costume. On Polebitvy, Lex sees her actual red hair, large green eyes, and freckles. In her later immortal appearances her hair is silver. Across these changes, flowing movement and precise poise remain more reliable identifiers than any single face. (Chapters 128, 725–726, 1182, 1329, and 1750)

She is disciplined, self-contained, protective, and intensely uncomfortable making others bear the consequences of her history. Her reserve can look like aloofness, but she evacuates civilians before pursuing enemies, worries over children she could not save, and accepts extreme personal costs to protect her team. With people she trusts, the controlled facade admits dry humor, competitiveness, warmth, and a cautious willingness to rely on someone else. (Chapters 726, 1183, 1297–1298, 1750–1752, 1836–1843, and 1850–1852)

Abilities and cultivation

Immortal cultivation and combat control

Giselle is a peak Golden Core when first seen performing, but her intervening mortal and early immortal advances occur off page. She is an Earth Immortal during the Temple of Frozen Dawn arc, reaches the ninth level by Chapter 1751, and is a new Heaven Immortal by Chapter 2188. Her specialization is control rather than brute strength: she moves fluidly among energies, tenets, sword attacks, dance steps, and defensive responsibilities, allowing her to fight above the expectations of her formal realm without making her invulnerable. (Chapters 128, 1202–1204, 1297, 1751–1752, 2188, and 2373)

Dance and purified Profane energy

While still mortal, Giselle turns beauty and motion into a cultivation method that uses the universe itself as a filter. Her dance cleanses the corrupting nature of Profane energy before she absorbs it, so the energy manifests through her with unusual purity and can be directed alongside other powers. The same continuous movement shapes her swordsmanship: lifts, turns, and changes in rhythm become evasions and lethal strikes rather than separate combat forms. (Chapters 128, 725–726, 1182–1184, 1188, 1202–1203, and 1843)

Purification is not immunity. Profane energy can corrupt ordinary techniques and even laws, and Giselle states that stronger Defilers can still affect her. She therefore studies their behavior, develops resistance by baptizing her body in Defiler Essence, and uses Time when purified Profane energy alone is insufficient. Her ability depends on mastery and resistance built over years rather than a universal negation of every Defiler's power. (Chapters 1203, 1272, 1758, 1840, and 1853)

Time affinity and the Sands of Time

Giselle gains a Time affinity through the Temple of Frozen Dawn and the Sands of Time, then develops it through meditation and a Jotun tower. Direct Time-law use can corrode a target's strength as if ages were passing, while a Time barrier protects a group and Stasis slows deterioration to an almost imperceptible rate. These effects are unusually difficult to resist, but mistakes in manipulating Time are dangerous to the user, and her finest techniques require preparation and exceed what her realm can safely supply alone. (Chapters 1183, 1188, 1297, 1751–1752, 2116, and 2373)

Her strongest demonstrated technique steals a single moment from a target, making her master of everything the target is or has been during that interval. It takes thirteen minutes to activate and would kill her without the Sands; even with them, using it against an Earth-Immortal Defiler leaves her unconscious. As a new Heaven Immortal she later kills a Celestial through Time but suffers catastrophic burns, confirming that superior effect does not remove recoil. (Chapters 1847, 1850, and 2188)

Relationships

  • Lex Williams: Giselle and Lex progress from anonymous battlefield allies to trusted partners. He respects her control and expertise, while she gradually accepts that involving him does not automatically condemn him to the dangers surrounding her.
  • Alexander Morrison: Alexander becomes Giselle's fellow front-line fighter in the Champions Tourney and Tyranum team; the two remain its strongest independent combatants when they are not channeling the crumbling sword.
  • Rafael: Giselle follows Rafael's future-guided survival plans while contributing the Time defenses and high-level offense that keep the group alive long enough for those plans to matter.
  • Larry Dershaw: Larry is one of the human teammates Giselle agrees to protect for Lex and later an experienced companion in the Tyranum expedition.
  • Vera: Their guarded first meeting exposes Giselle's hesitation around new relationships, but Vera avoids escalating the tension and recognizes the significance of Giselle's history.

Items

  • Sands of Time: Thirteen grains obtained in the Temple of Frozen Dawn amplify Giselle's Time affinity and make her most dangerous Time technique survivable. No separate finalized item article exists. (Chapters 1188, 1751, 1847, and 1850)
  • Eden watch: The watch detects time fractures that ordinary senses cannot perceive and supports navigation through temporal hazards. No separate finalized item article exists. (Chapter 1183)
