Aegis

Aegis Cornelius is the Crown Prince of Hum, an Earth Immortal prodigy whose inability to defeat his father drives him into alcoholism. Lex restores his sense of purpose, but Aegis's latest training shows that overcoming Cornelius remains the standard by which he judges himself. (Chapters 367, 373–382, 689–703, 1305, 2349)

Biography

Addiction, purpose, and the unreachable king

Aegis appears in Babylon after fighting Zagan, powerful enough at eighty-eight to be an Earth Immortal yet reduced to drunken grief. His talent made ordinary cultivation and warfare too easy, while Cornelius remained the one opponent he could not touch; that gap turned achievement into futility. Lex Williams forces him to recount the addiction's source, reframes the wider universe as a field of challenges beyond his father, and gives him a concrete path forward. Aegis's aura and posture change immediately as drive replaces intoxicated apathy. (Chapters 367, 373–379)

Renewed purpose makes Aegis decisive and dangerous. He secures intelligence, compensates Lex with a valuable energy crystal, and vows to confront Cornelius if the king has betrayed humanity. His friendship with Lex persists, yet later accounts still define him through the same unresolved contest. In the Primordial Garden, even upgrades, flawless law application, and a combined attack with Pvarti, Cwenhild, and other elites cannot defeat his father. Appearance and personality

Aegis initially looks and behaves like a languid drunk, with unfocused eyes and the emotional air of a child who never grew up. Sobriety reveals a soldier's posture, direct speech, and intense sense of purpose. He is competitive, extraordinarily adaptable, and capable of gratitude, but his self-worth remains dangerously tied to surpassing Cornelius. (Chapters 373, 376–380, 2349)

Earth Immortal and True Path talent

Aegis is explicitly scanned as an eighty-eight-year-old human Earth Immortal and is identified as one of Cornelius's children cultivating the True Path.
