Vanessa

Vanessa is an academy mage whom Kai LuForia rescues from an Alpha Horned Rabbit. She later becomes his adventuring companion and partner, although hypnosis compromises the autonomy of that relationship.

Biography

Rescue, magical ambition, and a changed future

Vanessa visits Hearthwood with her boyfriend Allen for an academy project, but an Alpha Horned Rabbit wounds and corners her. Kai kills the beast, and gratitude leads Vanessa and Allen to hunt with him. Her fire magic gives their team ranged cover against forest wolves, while the experience advances her ambition to become a renowned mage and earn a Magic Tower scholarship. Kai secretly hypnotizes both students immediately after their rescue, redirecting Vanessa's growing attraction toward himself and distorting Allen's response to their intimacy. (Chapters 9–15)

Extended academy routine leaves Vanessa dissatisfied with lectures and eager for travel, monsters, and a freer life. Reuniting with Kai offers the adventure she wants, but it also revives the earlier implanted attachment. She joins his household, trains against Gwen, and publicly rejects Allen after forgetting their date. Although she explains that Allen was never her preferred type, the intact hypnosis prevents treating that choice as fully independent. Vanessa is a mage with 120 mana when appraised. She forms three hovering fireballs and launches them as ranged attacks, burning ordinary forest wolves and supporting melee fighters.
