Wen Qing
Wen Qing is a renowned physician of a collateral Wen branch, the elder sister of Wen Ning, and a leader among the displaced Wen survivors sheltered at Burial Mound.
Biography
Dafan branch and golden-core operation
Wen Qing is favored within the QishanWen Sect for her learning and medical skill, though she belongs to a collateral branch rather than Wen RuoHan's immediate family. During the Sunshot conflict, her branch aids Wei WuXian and Jiang Cheng. At Wei WuXian's request, she performs the operation that transfers his golden core to Jiang Cheng, attempting unsuccessfully to find an anesthetic that could make the procedure painless. (Chapters 60 and 89)
Search for Wen Ning
After Wen Ning disappears from a detention camp, Wen Qing crosses from Qishan to Yunmeng with almost no rest to seek Wei WuXian's help. She refuses to remain behind despite exhaustion and goes with him to recover her brother and the other Wen detainees. The rescued group then settles at Burial Mound, where Wen Qing serves as physician, protects A-Yuan, and repeatedly curbs Wei WuXian's dangerous or careless behavior. (Chapters 72–75)
Surrender at Koi Tower
After Wen Ning kills Jin ZiXuan and Jin ZiXun during the Qiongqi Path ambush, Wen Qing concludes that the siblings' surrender is the only remaining way to remove the clans' stated pretext for attacking Wei WuXian. She immobilizes him with a needle, says farewell, and leaves for Koi Tower with Wen Ning. When Wei WuXian can move three days later, he expects only her corpse and Wen Ning's ashes to remain. (Chapters 76–77)
Appearance and personality
The source presents Wen Qing as forceful, practical, and intensely protective of her brother. Exhaustion during her search leaves her weak, disheveled, and red-eyed, but she refuses rest until Wen Ning is found. Her medical authority and sharp reprimands make her one of the stabilizing figures at Burial Mound. (Chapters 72 and 74–75)
Abilities and cultivation
Wen Qing is the foremost physician identified within QishanWen and a cultivator whose needles can heal, diagnose, or immobilize. Her greatest accomplishment is the golden-core transfer, an unprecedented operation that succeeds only through preparation, precision, and the patient's conscious endurance.
Medical cultivation
She diagnoses injuries, manages medicines, treats cultivators, and understands how spiritual pathways and golden cores interact with the body. Wen Ning calls her the Wen sect's best medic, and even people who distrust the clan accept the seriousness of her skill. Her practice remains constrained by materials, time, and the condition of the patient; medicine cannot protect the Burial Mound community from political execution. (Chapters 60, 73–77, and 89)
Golden-core transfer
At Wei WuXian's insistence, Wen Qing removes his functioning golden core and transfers it to Jiang Cheng. The procedure requires extensive preparation and must be performed while Wei WuXian is conscious because anesthesia would interfere with the necessary spiritual control. She warns that the chance of success is uncertain and that failure would permanently ruin both sacrifice and recipient. (Chapter 89)
The operation does not create a core or restore Jiang Cheng's destroyed one; it moves an existing core from one body to another. Suibian later responds to Jiang Cheng because the core still carries Wei WuXian's spiritual signature, providing physical confirmation of what Wen Qing accomplished. (Chapters 101–103)
Needles and restraint
Wen Qing uses needles with enough anatomical and spiritual precision to immobilize Wei WuXian before she and Wen Ning surrender. The technique interrupts movement without requiring a contest of raw force and can be applied quickly at close range. It is temporary and depends on access to the correct points; it does not make her a stronger battlefield combatant than the sect leaders surrounding the settlement. (Chapter 77)
