Nilla

Nilla is the unwanted nickname of Naxxaramous Orovious Dante, a Totem-ranked Vampire Druid in the Nara Group Guild Alliance. His friendship with Rae draws the reluctant night-dweller into public fashion events, while his advance to Forest Guardian gives the Alliance a blood-aligned Spirit Guardian and an experienced tank for later raids.

Biography

Rae turns a private vampire into the Alliance's public model

Nilla meets Rae after Marcus lures him outside with mulled blood wine and introduces the two as people with the same favorite drink. Nilla objects to the cookie-scent nickname and gives his full noble name, but Rae immediately adopts “Nilla,” takes his hand, and pulls him into the Alliance's preparations. His first concern is that a Totem Bloodbath Spider may be taking him somewhere private to eat him; when the others laugh, he decides that the Darklight Host is the “good kind of weird” and accepts the acquaintance rather than retreating to his room. (Chapter 1124)

Rae then makes Nilla her living model during the winter social. He initially refuses to go out, yet permits her to style him in black Gothic clothing, walks in the Alliance parade under an umbrella, and enters a fashion category beside her. The display turns his Dante lineage and vampire reserve into publicity for their allied crafters. Once obligations loosen, he helps Rae find a shaded winery cellar, showing that the partnership works because she values his comfort as well as his visual effect. (Chapters 1155–1157 and 1162)

Forest Guardian advancement converts spectacle into raid strength

During the social, Nilla advances his class from Druid to Forest Guardian. The new class grants a Spirit Guardian that manifests as a massive red ethereal bear; Karl judges that its unusual appearance is probably altered by Nilla's blood affinity, but the exact selection rule is not confirmed. The reveal gives Rae another public spectacle and gives the Alliance a durable summoned partner for combat, connecting the fashion event to a practical increase in collective power. (Chapter 1156)

Nilla remains engaged with the Darklight Host's growing beast teams, asking whether bonded beasts can retire and when a Mythic raiding group might form. Rae later treats him as her favored vampire and expects his tanking group to take her into a dungeon; Deve compares his own Spirit Guardians directly with Nilla's. In the latest phase Nilla accompanies the Alliance mission to Nar, standing in shade while the group is vetted and lending his presence to the joint response. No source explicitly raises his personal rank above Totem. (Chapters 1228, 1233, 1250, 1294, and 1435)

Appearance and personality

Nilla is a male vampire whose Dante lineage marks him as Vampire Nobility. He favors shade, resists spending a whole day outdoors, and carries an umbrella during the winter parade. Rae dresses him in a black Gothic outfit that suits both the fashion category and the cellar's darkness. The corpus does not provide his height, hair, eyes, fangs, or exact complexion. (Chapters 1124, 1155–1157, and 1162)

He is reserved, courteous, wry, and more adaptable than his initial reluctance suggests. Nilla dislikes his nickname and worries about being eaten, yet can laugh at himself, accept Rae's forceful friendship, and join a public contest. He also asks careful questions about bonded beasts and retirement, reflecting genuine curiosity rather than treating Karl's partners as equipment. (Chapters 1124, 1157, and 1228)

Abilities and class

Nilla begins as a Totem-ranked Druid and tank, then advances his class to Forest Guardian. The corpus does not show his original awakening, earlier ranks, or the precise trigger for the class advancement. His continuing role as the tank whose approval can bring Rae into a group indicates frontline durability, but no named taunt, healing, transformation, or defensive spell is assigned directly to him. (Chapters 1124, 1156, and 1233)

The Forest Guardian class grants him a Spirit Guardian, a massive ethereal bear colored blood red. It can fill a golem-like companion role and is later used as the reference point for Deve's similar guardians. Its attack pattern, duration, resummoning cost, and damage limits are not demonstrated. The narration suggests that vampiric blood affinity changed the guardian's normal appearance, but presents that as Karl's assessment rather than a verified mechanic. (Chapters 1156 and 1294)

Nilla has thermal vision, allowing him to appreciate Rae's adaptive coloration even when ordinary viewers lose her against a dark background. His vampire nature also creates a practical sunlight limitation, expressed through shade and an umbrella rather than shown as direct injury. His latest sourced mastery combines Totem tanking, a class-granted Spirit Guardian, and vampire senses; no Mythic advancement is confirmed. (Chapters 1162 and 1435)

Relationships

  • Rae: Rae claims Nilla as model, drinking companion, and favored vampire. She pushes him into public life, while he helps her navigate daylight activities and responds to her predatory humor without ending the friendship. (Chapters 1124–1162 and 1250)
  • Deve: Deve is an allied Druid tank whose later Spirit Guardians are explicitly compared with Nilla's. Their complementary summons strengthen the Alliance's small-team options. (Chapters 1294 and 1435)
  • Karl and Dana: Both observe Nilla's class reveal and later treat him as a reliable member of the wider Alliance network rather than merely Rae's companion. (Chapters 1124–1162 and 1228)
  • Marcus: Marcus is the ally who popularizes the Nilla nickname and introduces him to Rae with blood wine. Nilla's repeated objection never persuades the group to abandon it. (Chapter 1124)

Items

Nilla has no standalone item in the scoped catalog. His umbrella, Rae-made Gothic clothing, and blood wine are recurring parts of his presentation but are not assigned persistent item articles.
