Commander Loros

Commander Loros is an Obsession Demon sculptor and jeweller whose commercial partnership with Karl grows into a permanent place in the Darklight Host's Drodh workshop. Although her System class is Warrior rather than Sculptor, she builds a professional craft practice through her sculpting obsession, runecrafting instruction, and close collaboration with the guild's other makers.

Biography

A Shopkeeper's Bargain Becomes Battlefield Trust

Loros first approaches Karl as a working sculptor who understands that presentation affects whether customers trust a craftsperson. She commissions an enhanced ring and bracelet both to look prosperous enough to sell her carvings and to create a referral partnership, then guides Karl toward the Governor's wife's jewellery shop rather than treating him only as a competitor. Her choices are practical and reciprocal: Karl's enchantments improve her credibility, while her local knowledge and customer network help him enter Drodh's luxury market. (Chapters 745–747)

The relationship is tested when fighting reaches the city. Loros brings water to Karl's group and entrusts her jewellery to Rae so it will not be lost in the chaos, fulfilling the cooperative bargain through action rather than sales talk. The pale little demoness has no front-line role comparable to Karl's team, but she protects the stock that represents her livelihood and supports the people defending the district, leaving the two sides with demonstrated reason to trust one another. (Chapter 760)

Displacement and a Permanent Workshop

Loros's position changes abruptly when her apartment and workspace are destroyed after her landlord's creditors tear the building apart. She arrives at Karl's renovated property dirty, carrying her possessions, and asks a business associate for shelter because she has nowhere suitable to live or work. Karl offers more than a temporary room: she can establish a permanent workshop and sell through the new store. Accepting turns Loros from an independent artisan in crisis into one of the resident makers around whom the Darklight Host's Drodh craft operation forms. (Chapter 771)

Within the workshop, Loros takes responsibility for design and assembly rather than merely supplying carvings. She repairs jewellery, designs fitted armour plates, and works with Rae to complete the Governor's wife's armour, while Wendy joins her as a second apprentice sculptor and runecrafter. Material shortages and rank ceilings shape their division of labour—Loros works heavily in imported Mana Jade and prepares pieces for Karl to empower—yet her lists of commissioned noncombat goods keep the shop serving needs beyond weapons and armour. (Chapters 780–805, 827, and 922)

Advancement Without a Sculptor Class

Loros's attempt to break past her bloodline's limits culminates in a traumatic high-ranked dungeon trip. She returns shaken by what the group encountered, but the ordeal also carries her into Commander Rank. That advancement matters directly to her work: because her enchanted products cannot safely exceed her own rank, Commander status widens what she can produce and makes her a more capable foundation for the guild workshop. The result is progress bought at a psychological cost, not a carefree crafting milestone. (Chapters 831–843)

Later, Loros confronts the difference between practiced artistry and a System-granted vocation. She is thrilled to observe Dwarven masters who possess an actual Sculptor class, studies their hand-carving methods, and openly recognizes techniques her Warrior class never supplied. Karl's runecrafting experience likewise shows that perfect handwriting alone cannot substitute for the maker's intent and proficiency, limiting how much Loros can simply transcribe for a stronger enchanter. Her latest position is therefore that of a proven Commander artisan who continues learning precisely because rank and obsession do not erase the advantages of specialist classes. (Chapters 1098 and 1136–1137)

Appearance and personality

Loros is a small Obsession Demon whose skin is described as vibrant white early in the story and, later, light violet in keeping with others of her species. She has red-flashing eyes, and embarrassment colours much more than her face. Her normally careful appearance contrasts with the dust and pallor covering her after her home is destroyed. Loros is commercially shrewd, candid about needing customers' respect, and generous when cooperation matters. Her delight in skilled sculpture, creative deviations from stock designs, and likely authorship of a teasing inscription also give her an enthusiastic and playful artistic streak. (Chapters 745–746, 760–771, 792, 1100, 1132, and 1137)

Abilities and class

Warrior class, obsession, and rank limits

The System identifies Loros as a Warrior with a sculpting obsession, not as a System-class Sculptor. The obsession gives her sustained artistic drive and considerable manual skill, but it does not automatically provide every technique or class benefit available to the Dwarven specialists she later observes. Her craft output is also bounded by personal rank: runic items cannot exceed the maker's own rank, so her early bottleneck limits production until a dungeon breakthrough raises her to Commander. The corpus does not establish a later advancement beyond Commander. (Chapters 745, 803, 820, 831–843, and 1137)

Sculpture, jewellery, and collaborative construction

Loros carves jewellery, designs fitted plates and braces, repairs damaged rings, and helps assemble composite armour. She adapts to scarce or awkward materials—for example, preserving thin stone plates by requesting Rae's silk as a backing—and works from customer measurements rather than producing only generic stock. Nature magic can assist the workshop's output, while collaboration lets Loros combine her carvings with Rae's textiles and Karl's higher-ranked empowerment. This division is productive but also a limitation: the final quality depends on compatible materials, the runecrafter's intent, and the rank and proficiency of each contributor. (Chapters 780–786, 827, 862, 922, and 1098)

Runecrafting progression

Karl teaches Loros the basics of runecrafting through mana-storage and skill-power rings, beginning with plain practice pieces and precise stroke order. She soon develops Ascended and Commander wooden rings in designs that differ from the demonstration, showing that she applies the method creatively rather than copying it mechanically. After advancing, she can prepare Commander-grade charms and a wider range of requested utility items, but having her write runic phrases for Karl would still reduce the likely ceiling because technical form alone does not carry his intent or mastery. Her continued study of true sculptors complements rather than replaces that runic apprenticeship. (Chapters 778, 792, 803, 843, 922, 1098, and 1132–1137)

Relationships

  • Karl: Loros begins as his customer and referral partner, then accepts his offer of a permanent workshop. He teaches her runecrafting and supplies the higher-rank empowerment her commissions sometimes require. (Chapters 745–747, 771, 778, and 922)
  • Wendy: Wendy becomes Loros's fellow sculptor and runecrafter. They practice together, share workshop production, devise charm-based goods, make deliveries, and recover together after the dungeon that advances Loros. (Chapters 773–778, 803–850, and 1128)
  • Rae: Loros trusts Rae with her jewellery during the battle for Drodh and later works with her silk and construction skills on fitted armour and bracers. (Chapters 760, 781–787, and 827)
  • Ashbringer: Ashbringer is the resident Grandmaster Smith in the same workshop. His larger metalworking operation complements the sculptors' jewellery, carved components, and utility goods. (Chapters 805, 863, and 1128)
