Colonel Wilkes
Colonel Wilkes commands a military team attached to Karl's unit during the campaign against the Hill Giants.
Biography
Learning to hold the line with a stronger unit
Wilkes is assigned to work with Karl's team for several missions while four Ascended members are added to the combined force. His soldiers are visibly nervous when they first take their place in the line, but the attachment gives them access to experienced protection and to a formation that can absorb a charge. (Chapters 334–336)
Wilkes contributes Fire Elementals to the counterattack, sending them forward with Rae and the golems to open a breach through the Hill Giants. His group later remains beside Thor under the same barrier, while Wilkes adds area fire and more summoned elementals to repeated pushes. (Chapters 342, 355, 357, 360)
The partnership culminates in Wilkes and Dana maintaining an overhead barrier against thrown stones while the golems smash the giants' defenses. The early nervous attachment has become a functioning combined-arms unit in which Wilkes supplies both offense and protection. (Chapter 362)
Appearance and personality
The corpus gives no detailed physical description. Wilkes greets the allied team amicably, while the anxiety visible in his soldiers suggests an inexperienced battlefield group rather than unwillingness to fight. (Chapters 334, 336)
Abilities and class
Wilkes summons Fire Elementals that can advance with other constructs and frontline fighters. He also casts [Flamestorm], an area attack whose stated limitation is shorter range than Remi's comparable battlefield casting. (Chapters 335, 342, 357, 360)
He can cooperate with Dana to sustain an umbrella barrier against falling or thrown projectiles. The source does not establish whether this barrier is his own named skill, a shared casting technique, or how much of it each caster supplies. (Chapter 362)
