Captain Strum
Captain Strum is the proud captain of Planet Draconet's IYSOP representatives and one of the tournament's most feared competitors.
Biography
Pride, brutality, and the captains' clash
Strum organizes the Draconets to remain together during the Viondur Egg Challenge and demands victory from subordinates who benefit from their species' mental communication. When a squad fails against Falco, Strum punishes his own officer and then brutally beats Falco, continuing after the Earth representative is incapacitated. Gustav Oslov intervenes, setting up a rivalry Strum treats as a defense of planetary pride. Their formal duel exposes Strum's formidable control over time, but Gustav's black holes overwhelm both him and his Encour. The defeat ends Strum's claim of superiority and leaves the Draconet captain alive but decisively beaten. (Chapters 1178–1202 and 1270–1273)
Appearance and personality
Strum is a large Draconet with six arms, two legs, a half-black and half-white face, and blue star-shaped markings. He is commanding and fearless, but also arrogant, punitive, and cruel to enemies and subordinates alike. Humiliation drives him to escalate violence even when the tournament's objective no longer requires it. (Chapters 1178, 1195, and 1198–1202)
Bloodlines and abilities
Strum manifests a towering shadowy Encour that conjures enormous blue Time Spears. Their temporal effect can slow or disintegrate what they strike, and the Encour can restore Strum's destroyed body to an earlier condition. In his time domain, he sees projected future movements, slows an opponent while accelerating himself, and removes physical features through repeated contact. The powers remain vulnerable to forces that distort the battlefield beyond his control: Gustav's multiple black holes slow the Encour and begin tearing Strum apart. (Chapters 1198–1202 and 1270–1273)
