History

When Sylvie sacrifices her physical form to rebuild the dying Arthur, she leaves behind a stone-like egg. Arthur carries it through Alacrya and repeatedly feeds it aether, even when the amount required appears impossibly large. The vessel gradually changes into a rainbow-colored egg and finally opens when Sylvie completes the path back to embodied life. (Chapters 256–327 and 403–436)

Properties and use

The stone stores Sylvie's dormant existence and accepts aether in layers or stages that Arthur cannot initially interpret. It is not the same item as Sylvia's egg, which hatched during Arthur's childhood. Nor does Arthur's custody make Sylvie property: his use of the stone is an effort to restore a sentient bond and family member. (Chapters 256–327 and 403–436)
