Sylvia's egg

History

The wounded dragon Sylvia entrusts the egg to Arthur shortly before sending him away from her cave. Arthur carries the smooth stone-like vessel until it hatches, revealing the dragon who becomes Sylvie. This historical egg is not the later aetheric stone formed after Sylvie sacrifices her body. (Chapters 10–11 and 18)

Properties and use

Before hatching, the egg functions as a protected draconic vessel. Agrona later says he embedded a dormant communication spell in it, which eventually lets him speak through Sylvie's bond, but the egg itself grants Arthur no active combat ability. Once Sylvie hatches, she is a sentient person and must not be described as property. (Chapters 18 and 196)
