Olfred Warend is a dwarven Lance whose useful service to the Council conceals divided loyalty until a mission in Darv exposes his cooperation with the Greysunders' Alacryan alignment.

Biography

Recorded appearances

Olfred initially functions as a practical Council Lance, joining discussions after Alea's death and later organizing survivors at Xyrus. When Bairon Wykes tries to kill Arthur Leywin in immediate revenge for Lucas, Olfred insists on Council judgment, an action that genuinely protects Arthur even though later revelations complicate his motives. Still trusted, he accompanies Arthur and Mica Earthborn to Darv, uses the identity Cladence as cover, deceives Mica, and guides them toward a trap. Exposure turns fellow Lance against Lance; Olfred fights with earth and magma constructs and dies, proving that the conspiracy had penetrated Dicathen's highest military rank. Appearance and personality

Olfred is an older, broad dwarf whose unassuming, practical manner helps conceal divided loyalty. He can appear measured and procedural, but his deception of Mica shows patience and willingness to exploit established trust. (Chapters 100, 169–170, and 176–178)
