Biography

Role in the story

Feyrith first meets Arthur Leywin as the proud young son of an Eralith retainer and a childhood acquaintance of Tessia Eralith. Jealous of Tessia's attachment to Arthur, he tries to establish his own superiority and turns their introduction into a childish rivalry. The encounter exposes his vanity and inherited status, but it also establishes the competitive bond that later lets him call Arthur both his greatest rival and a close friend. (Chapters 18 and 28)

At Xyrus Academy, Feyrith becomes a member of the Disciplinary Committee and learns to work beside students he might once have treated only as rivals. Arthur's cross-discipline exercise pushes the water-specialist conjurer outside his preferred habits, and Feyrith comes close to completing it through persistence rather than natural affinity. His academy arc does not erase his pride, but redirects it toward competence, teamwork, and the responsibility expected of someone entrusted with protecting other students. During Alacrya's occupation of Elenoir, Feyrith is found in a prisoner caravan, bruised, starved, and dangerously weak. Even before he can stand unaided, he reports that many more elves remain imprisoned at Eidelholm and insists that Tessia's force rescue them. He volunteers alongside the other freed mages and only stays behind because none of them are fit to fight. The episode turns his old concern with status into urgent responsibility for people suffering beside him. (Chapter 303)

The destruction of Elenoir leaves Feyrith without his family or confidence in the asuras Dicathen still calls allies. With Albold, he briefly confines Eleanor Leywin using suppression cuffs and a water barrier to force the truth from her—an abusive choice born from grief, not a harmless conversation. After learning what happened, he organizes the surviving elves, publicly challenges Virion Eralith, and helps win a vote on whether the sanctuary should continue accepting asuran aid. (Chapters 332, 365, and 382)

When Taci attacks the sanctuary, Feyrith helps direct refugees into assigned groups and deeper tunnels. He is later found dead with the people who had sheltered under his leadership, while Curtis Glayder carries his body back to the survivors. A flower-covered tomb bearing his full name memorializes him afterward. His final arc ends not with the jealous fourth son trying to be noticed, but with an organizer who uses his voice and magic to help displaced people seek truth and escape. (Chapters 385 and 390–392)

Appearance and personality

Feyrith is a blond elf whose expressive face readily shows embarrassment, anger, and pride. As a child and student, he presents himself with a noble's careful self-importance. Captivity changes him visibly: when rescued he is tall but dangerously thin, shirtless, bruised across the face and torso, with gaunt cheeks, protruding ribs, and little strength to stand. Some of that damage remains apparent after his physical rescue. (Chapters 18, 51–65, 303, 365, and 382)

He begins vain, jealous, competitive, and quick to take offense, yet is also diligent enough to improve when challenged. War makes him more serious and compassionate without making him faultless. His desperation for truth leads him to help restrain Ellie, but he releases his barrier, exposes his own grief, and later seeks public accountability rather than private revenge. Loyalty, pride, and loss all drive him; his development lies in turning those traits toward the agency and survival of other elves. (Chapters 18, 51–65, 303, 332, 365, and 382–392)

Relationships

Arthur Leywin: Arthur begins as Feyrith's rival for Tessia's attention and later becomes his teammate, instructor, friend, and standard for personal growth. Even after captivity, Feyrith brightens at the possibility that Arthur is alive; while grieving, he describes Arthur as both his greatest rival and a close friend. (Chapters 18, 28, 51–65, 80–96, 303, and 365)
Tessia Eralith: Feyrith knows Tessia from childhood through his family's service to the Eraliths. Early possessiveness gives way to wartime trust. When she helps free him, his first priority is persuading her to rescue the other imprisoned elves rather than securing his own safety. (Chapters 18, 28, and 303)
Albold: Albold becomes Feyrith's closest partner in the sanctuary. Together they question the official account of Elenoir's destruction, force Ellie to reveal what she knows, organize the elves, confront Virion, and assist the evacuation. Their shared campaign is driven by grief and the belief that survivors deserve political agency. (Chapters 332, 365, 382, and 385)
Eleanor Leywin: Feyrith and Albold restrain Ellie because they believe she holds the truth about Elenoir. Feyrith tries to keep the confrontation nonviolent, but his reassurance does not excuse taking away her freedom. After she tells them what happened, they use her testimony to demand accountability from the sanctuary's leaders. (Chapters 365 and 382)
Virion Eralith: Feyrith respects Virion's long service but rejects his decision to conceal the asuras' responsibility for Elenoir. Their public confrontation forces Virion to acknowledge the truth and agree that the sanctuary's peoples should vote on whether to accept further asuran aid. (Chapters 332 and 382)
Curtis Glayder: Curtis is part of the student and wartime circle around Feyrith. After the sanctuary attack, he carries Feyrith's body out of the tunnel and reports that the refugees hidden with him were also killed. (Chapters 51–65 and 390–391)

Mana, aether, and abilities

Feyrith is a mana conjurer who specializes in water. He has no demonstrated aether art, asuran technique, or Lance-level power. His strengths are control, persistence, and using water to shape space or command attention; his limits become stark against occupation, starvation, and an asuran attacker.

Water conjuration

At Xyrus, Feyrith uses a staff or wand to support ranged water magic and demonstrates enough control to nearly complete Arthur's exercise outside his normal specialty. Later, he creates a thick water barrier across a cave to separate Ellie and Boo from himself and Albold, then dismisses it cleanly. He also fires a water burst into the air to silence a noisy crowd before speaking. These uses show flexible control, but not the destructive scale of a Lance. (Chapters 51–65, 80–96, 365, and 382)

Organization and public leadership

Feyrith's later effectiveness depends as much on communication as spellcraft. He carries information from captivity, recruits grieving elves, frames their demand for truth, and uses his magic to make a public gathering listen. During the evacuation, he directs refugees to remain with appointed leaders so scattered groups can be guided to safety. His leadership cannot protect his group from Taci, but it gives frightened survivors an organized path when panic would otherwise divide them. (Chapters 303, 332, 365, 382, and 385–391)

Items

Staff or wand: Feyrith uses an ordinary casting focus during his academy years. It supports his conjurer style but is never named or established as a unique artifact with powers independent of his water magic. (Chapters 51–65 and 80–96)
Mana-suppression cuffs: Feyrith and Albold use suppression cuffs while confining Ellie so she cannot simply escape or overpower them. The cuffs are coercive equipment used for one confrontation, not Feyrith's signature possession. (Chapter 365)
Memorial tomb: After his death, the survivors raise a marbled tomb covered in vines and bright flowers and carve his full name into it. The tomb is a memorial rather than equipment he owned in life. (Chapter 392)
