Malvil's Sword
Malvil's Sword is the sealed, adaptive weapon forged by Malvil Ironhawk for Ren Dover. It is distinct from the old blunt training sword Malvil lends Ren earlier.
History
The blunt-sword test
Malvil first confiscates Ren's damaged weapon and lends him an old blunt sword, ordering him to use it so that fear of breakage will teach efficient parrying, redirection and force control. Malvil later reveals that the blade is far tougher than it looks and that the apparent fragility was instructional. After reading Ren's decisions from its scratches and seeing that he values survival over blind obedience, Malvil agrees to consider forging a true personal weapon—especially once Ren produces rare Okleum ore. This training blade is the custom sword's precursor, not the same physical item. (Chapters 309–323)
Forging and conditional custody
Malvil shapes a new sword frame and calls Ren into the final forging process. Ren must strike the frame and feed it mana while Malvil hammers it, an exhausting synchronization that binds the finished weapon to its intended wielder. The initial form is deliberately short and sealed. Malvil makes custody conditional: Ren may use it, but must prove worth by unlocking four of five seals before age twenty-eight; without Malvil's approval, the final seal remains inaccessible. First seal and Keiki focus
Reaching A- rank breaks the first seal and lengthens the blade. The sword contains five seals tied to Ren's growth. Accelerated gathering
The first seal allows the wielder to gather the relevant energy faster than normal. This is particularly valuable for the Keiki style's fifth movement, which works by assimilating light psyons around the blade rather than forcing motion through the body.
