Malvil Ironhawk
Malvil Ironhawk is a dwarven master smith who tests Ren's fundamentals and forges his sealed sword.
Biography
A commission worth respecting
Malvil does not accept Ren's reputation as proof of competence. He tests the human's sword fundamentals, corrects weak points, and only becomes fully invested when Ren supplies rare Okleum and a difficult commission. Alongside forging the sealed weapon, Malvil studies Ava's damaged flute and later delivers the completed sword before the Issanor journey, turning a transactional visit into a durable craft relationship. (Chapters 228–236, 302–336, 375–378)
Appearance and personality
Malvil is a sweaty, apron-wearing dwarf shaped by forge work. He is blunt, obsessive, and difficult to impress, but his dismissiveness becomes energetic concentration when a material or artifact presents a genuinely difficult technical problem. (Chapters 302–303, 322–336)
Powers and abilities
His expertise covers metallurgy, mana-compatible forging, seals, weapon balance, and artifact repair. Malvil can diagnose a swordsman's flaws through testing and build around dangerous materials, but the corpus does not establish a formal personal combat rank. (Chapters 302–336, 375–378)
Relationships
- Ren Dover: Student, customer, and wielder of Malvil's most important commission. (Chapters 302–336, 375–378)
- Ornol: Malvil's disciple and forge assistant. (Chapters 302–336)
Items
- Malvil's Sword: The sealed weapon he forges for Ren from rare materials; its restrictions and later use belong to the sword's article. (Chapters 322–336, 375–378)
