Joseph Sharp

Joseph Sharp is the Monolith scientist chiefly responsible for the prolonged experimentation performed on Subject 876, Ren Dover.

Biography

Subject 876

Joseph treats Ren as laboratory property for eight months, inflicting repeated tests while developing a brain chip intended to accelerate computation and administering an experimental serum. He greets useful results with ecstatic scientific curiosity rather than concern for the captive enduring them. During Ren's escape from the Monolith facility, the professor's control over his subject ends violently: Ren reaches and kills him before escaping the complex. A later recollection of Joseph preparing a syringe reinforces the invasive routine that defined the captivity. (Chapters 255–265, 479)

Appearance and personality

Joseph is an old man whose animated reactions earn him a reputation as a “crazy professor.” He is obsessive, callous and possessive toward test subjects, interpreting suffering primarily as data and experimental progress. (Chapters 255–264)

Powers and abilities

Joseph's demonstrated power is technical rather than martial. He designs invasive neurological hardware and chemical treatments, including a computational brain implant and an enhancement serum. The corpus does not establish a formal personal combat rank for him. (Chapters 255–264)
