Amon Slabaugh is the Union head celebrated as the Unbreakable Shield, a defensive SS-rank Hero who stands against traitors within the Union.

Biography

The Union betrayal

Amon arrives as one of the Union's highest-ranked defenders and fights beside Monica Jeffrey when Tasos Mallatos and Mo Jiahao reveal their betrayal. His black shield arrests devastating attacks and repeatedly places him between Monica and lethal force. The defense is not costless: sustained SS-rank pressure cracks his shield and inflicts grave internal injuries. He survives the confrontation but falls into a coma, leaving his recovery unresolved at his latest appearance. (Chapters 272–282)

Appearance and personality

Amon is tanned and sturdily built, with an aura that surpasses even Monica's. He is blunt, confident and comfortable trading barbed remarks with her, yet his conduct in battle shows an instinctive willingness to absorb danger for an ally. (Chapters 272–277)

Powers and abilities

As an SS-rank Hero, Amon possesses overwhelming physical and energy output. His signature black shield is reputed to endure combined SS-rank attacks and can stop Tasos's beam, making him an exceptional defensive specialist. Its endurance is finite, however: concentrated superior pressure cracks it, and blocking external damage does not prevent cumulative organ trauma. (Chapters 272–282)
