Karmic Tracing Order

The Karmic Tracing Order is a token prepared by artifact refiner Shang Tianyan to preserve and follow his causal connection with Sang Shuiyun, the hidden identity of Divine Monarch Xue Yun. Stored in the Flame Wind Association's Dark Hall before Shang's fatal confrontation, it lets Luo Feng locate the fleeing Xue Yun continuously and turns Shang's deathbed investigation into the means of completing the pursuit. History

Shang Tianyan's contingency

Shang suspects that his long-time friend Sang Shuiyun is Divine Monarch Xue Yun but cannot be certain without provoking a response. Because he may die before reporting the result, he prepares messages through a separate Karmic Messenger Order and places the Karmic Tracing Order in the Flame Wind Association's Dark Hall, where only a sufficiently authorized figure can retrieve it. Sang has carefully avoided leaving blood or another obvious tracking sample, but Shang uses the causality accumulated through their long relationship and imprints that connection into the tracing token. Shang confronts Sang, confirms the identity, and sends his final message before Sang kills him. Moli Xiao retrieves the tracing token from the Dark Hall for Huyang City's leadership. The city treats it as Shang's decisive contribution because ordinary deductions from Sang's many traces would be expensive and repeatedly become obsolete while he remained in motion; the order instead offers a direct way to determine his current location. Pursuit of Divine Monarch Xue Yun

After Luo Feng kills the Yutian siblings, Huyang's leaders decide he is strong enough to attempt the pursuit and lend him Shang's token. Luo channels divine power into it and immediately senses Xue Yun at a distant location outside the city. He follows the indicated direction northeast, intercepts the fugitive before he can reach safety, and maintains the pursuit until his willpower attack kills Xue Yun. The order finds the target; it does not attack, restrain, or overcome Xue Yun's survival techniques itself. (Chapters 1553–1556)

Luo looks at the token after the kill, regards the result as fulfilling Shang's effort, and puts it away. On returning to Huyang City he credits the order with preventing Xue Yun's escape to Shi Kingdom. Much later, after Luo resurrects Shang, Shang still remembers leaving the tracing order for the Marquis of Jiu Jiang's faction; the scene confirms its historical importance but does not establish its later location or continued function. Abilities and properties

• The order stores an imprint of cause-and-effect between a prepared target and the person creating the imprint. Shang can use the causal entanglement formed through long interaction even though Sang leaves no blood or similarly obvious sample. (Chapter 1547)
• When Luo Feng supplies divine power, the token establishes a connection to the imprinted target and indicates a distant current location. This avoids the repeated cost and delay of deducing a constantly moving fugitive from environmental traces. (Chapters 1554–1555)
• It is a tracking tool, not a combat weapon. Luo still needs his own travel, domains, physical attacks, Morosa's intervention, and finally a willpower technique to stop and kill Xue Yun. (Chapters 1554–1556)
