Zark

Zark is the Tier-2 successor to Michael Fang's Siltang Bow. It preserves the earlier bow's energy-storage and arrow-creation functions while holding more power and producing a wider range of condensed arrows, making it Michael's principal ranged Artifact through the Lord Rift and the campaigns against the Kitsun.

History

Tier-2 equipment upgrade

Michael finds Zark in the Bartholomew Shop's restricted catalog while preparing equipment for himself and Tiara. Because it comes from the same makers and series as the Siltang Bow, he already understands its enchantments when he first uses it against Silvermoon Panthers. He buys it as a direct replacement rather than a new tactical system: the higher-tier frame can retain more origin energy and create more varied arrows, allowing his familiar archery to scale with his Tier 2 body and stronger Enhancement. (Chapter 235)

The Lord Rift

Zark becomes Michael's main opening and support weapon in the Lord Rift. He layers Enhancement onto the bow, uses Eagle Eyes to choose weak points, disrupts attacks with arrows, and switches to the Wyverntooth Spear when opponents close the distance. Against Lords and their subordinates, he alternates Glacicles and arrow bombardments to restrict movement and select targets who cannot defend themselves. The bow is powerful enough to pierce Tier-2 bodies when reinforced, but it does not guarantee a kill against comparable enemies and frequently serves to create an opening for Michael, Tiara, or Masked Saber. (Chapters 236–258)

Jungle campaigns and Aethyr's replica

Michael continues wielding Zark in training against Thaor and during the campaign against the Kitsun Lord. It supplies precise ranged attacks in dark tunnels, frees captive Elementals by breaking their chokers, and supports larger barrages from Michael's archers. Afterward, Aethyr learns to assume a replica of Zark from Michael's memories and imagination. Michael notes that Aethyr can change into that bow form faster than he can manually exchange Zark for another Artifact. The comparison indicates that the original bow remains familiar equipment, but the corpus does not record a later transfer, destruction, or explicit disposal. (Chapters 327, 356–411, 462)

Abilities and properties

  • Zark shares the Siltang Bow's energy-storage and energy-arrow enchantments, so Michael can retain origin energy in the Artifact and form ammunition directly on its string. (Chapters 235–236)
  • As a Tier-2 version, it stores substantially more energy and creates a broader variety of condensed arrows than its Tier-1 predecessor. The corpus does not name those arrow variants as separate enchantments. (Chapter 235)
  • Multiple layers of Enhancement increase the bow's output and arrow velocity enough to threaten Tier-2 monsters and Awakened, but this amplification draws on Michael's Soultrait rather than Zark alone. (Chapters 236, 240, 245–258)
  • Zark works efficiently with Eagle Eyes, Glacicle, and Spirit Whip: Michael identifies targets, restricts or mentally disrupts them, and then delivers arrows from range. These combinations require multitasking and do not remove the need to change weapons in close combat. (Chapters 235–258 and 327–411)
  • Aethyr can reproduce Zark's form from Michael's memory. The replica's existence does not establish that the original Artifact transformed into Aethyr or was consumed by it. (Chapter 462)
