Lord Seal

A Lord Seal is an exceptionally expensive, single-purpose tool that connects an Awakened's War Rune and Lord Power to a Summoning Gate. Separate seals appear in several hands across the story: Daniel purchases one as insurance against losing his territory, a Valyr Lordess uses another to establish hers, and Michael consumes one to make Paradise Valley a sub-territory.

History

Threat of territorial seizure

Lilica first explains Lord Seals when Lionheart forces threaten Michael's territory. Destroying or capturing a Summoning Gate does not by itself let an attacker claim the domain; the invader needs a Lord Seal, a tool usually obtainable only by powerful figures. Michael later learns that Lord Rifts can yield them. These early references establish the seal as the missing legal or metaphysical link between defeating a Lord and restoring or redirecting Lord Power, rather than as an ordinary key to a physical gate. (Chapters 94, 139, and 163)

Daniel's contingency

Daniel Fang purchases a Lord Seal before raiding the Primedival Pyramid, spending billions, exhausting his savings, and calling in favors. He deliberately allows the rival Lords to destroy his Summoning Gate while his assassins destroy theirs, trusting that his subjects can rebuild his gate and that the seal can reactivate his Lord Power afterward. Daniel still holds and plans to use it when he returns to the Pyramid, but his subsequent death interrupts that plan. The corpus never identifies who recovers his specimen or whether it survives. (Chapters 268–276)

Other seals and Paradise Valley

A Valyr Lordess uses a seal supplied by her people to re-establish a territory in the Savannah Region. Michael later finds a different seal among the Undead Pharaoh's treasures in Paradise Valley, paired with a Claim Note that makes the region's native beings well-disposed toward its rightful claimant. After locating an intact Basic Summoning Gate and installing Summoning Cores, he stamps his War Rune and inserts the seal into the gate's foundation. Its energy forms a connection to his existing Intermediate Summoning Gate; after five pulses, the metal stamp cracks apart, fully expended. (Chapters 684 and 764–766)

Zira later shows Michael a proposed Valyr treasure list containing eight Lord Seals. The list is an offer rather than a completed transfer, and Michael dismisses most of its contents while renegotiating the Savannah Contract. Those eight specimens therefore remain with the Valyr unless a later unrecorded transaction occurred. (Chapter 811)

Abilities and properties

• A Lord Seal creates a connection between an Awakened's War Rune, Lord Power, and an inactive or reclaimed Summoning Gate, enabling a former Adventurer or Rogue to recover Lord status. (Chapters 268–276 and 766)
• Michael's specimen appears as a small golden metal stamp with a War Rune symbol on its base. Origin energy produces silver-golden threads that enter his War Rune and attach to the selected gate. The corpus does not establish that every seal has identical coloration or decoration. (Chapters 764 and 766)
• The seal does not replace Summoning Cores, repairs, or the large energy supply needed to activate a gate. Daniel must rebuild his destroyed structure first, while Michael selects an intact gate, installs cores, and spends Energy Stones after the seal completes its link. (Chapters 276 and 765–766)
• A Lord can have only one primary Summoning Gate. Michael can attach the lower-ranked Basic Gate because his primary gate is Intermediate; connecting a gate of equal rank risks damaging or shattering the primary structure. (Chapter 766)
• The demonstrated Paradise Valley seal is consumable. Each energy pulse cracks the stamp, and it crumbles after fulfilling its sole purpose. The Valyr Lordess's use suggests the same general function, but her seal's physical destruction is not shown directly. (Chapters 684 and 766)
