Claim Note

The Claim Note is a small old parchment that recognizes the Awakened who tears it as Paradise Valley’s rightful owner and makes native entities favorably disposed toward that claimant’s forces. Combined strategically with a Lord Seal, it allows Michael to turn an isolated valley guarded by a Primal Phoenix into the center of his Sacred Desert territory.

History

Reward from the Undead Pharaoh

After escaping the collapsing Primedival Pyramid, Michael Fang uses True Extraction on the Undead Pharaoh’s corpse and receives a golden Lord Seal and the Claim Note. The items appear as the Will’s reward or loot through Extraction, but the corpus does not name the Note’s maker or explain whether the Undead Pharaoh ever owned or could use it. Michael and Daniel Fang recognize that the Note’s promise of amity solves the greatest obstacle to a Paradise Valley sub-territory: the Sacred Beast ruling the enclosing mountain range. They decide its strategic value exceeds any plausible sale price. (Chapters 764–765)

Claiming Paradise Valley

Michael delays activation while preparing the valley, then tears the parchment. No visible declaration appears, but the temperature climbs until the Primal Phoenix arrives like a second sun. The Phoenix briefly overwhelms Michael with pressure before accepting him and later tolerates his workers. Subsequent settlement confirms that the Will recognizes Michael’s claim over Paradise Valley and its surroundings. The result is narrower than dominion over the entire Blazing Sand Mountain Range: Michael specifically observes that the Note does not grant those broader rights, and the Phoenix’s acceptance remains amity rather than submission. Abilities and properties

• The Note is a small, old parchment bearing a conditional claim: the Awakened who tears it becomes the rightful owner of Paradise Valley. Its effect is tied to destruction of the physical note, making it a single-use item. (Chapters 764 and 772)
• Its text states that entities native to Paradise Valley and the Blazing Sand Mountain Range, including Sacred Beasts, will be amiable toward the claimant and the claimant’s forces. “Amiable” does not mean controllable; the Primal Phoenix remains independently powerful and imposes pressure on Michael during their first meeting. (Chapters 764 and 772)
• In combination with a Lord Seal and an intact Summoning Gate, the Note removes the local political and monster threat that would otherwise make founding a sub-territory impractical. It does not itself create the Summoning Gate, install a core, or perform the Lord Seal’s territorial function. (Chapters 765–772)
• The later effect includes safe acceptance of workers, road research, settlement, and resource extraction around Paradise Valley. The Phoenix still produces dangerous ambient heat and startles workers, so friendliness does not eliminate incidental hazards. (Chapters 805 and 892)
• Its material composition, Artifact rank, creator, creation date, and whether equivalent notes exist for other places are not established. (Chapters 764–772)
