Blade of Rewriting
The Blade of Rewriting is one of the six Infinity Relics wielded by Zarveth. Despite its name, it appears as a pen and can rewrite a target's connection to a power, making it the weapon that separates Sharnoth from Chaos before Nux destroys it.
History
Severing Sharnoth from Chaos
Zarveth uses the Lantern of Infinite Paths to find an opening against Sharnoth, then touches her with the Blade. The strike makes the surrounding Chaos energy disappear, destabilizes her forming Body of Chaos, and leaves her unable to control her own body. The Blade remains embedded through her core while Zarveth relies on the Cube of Silence to maintain the rest of her restraint. (Chapter 2107)
When Nux reaches Sharnoth, Zarveth expects the Blade to rewrite Nux's connection to his own Law as soon as he touches it. Nux instead crushes the relic in his hand. Its destruction restores Sharnoth's connection to Chaos, although the renewed Chaos clashes with Darkness energy already inside her and causes repeated internal destruction and regeneration. Zarveth can no longer sense any bond to the Blade, confirming that it has not merely been damaged or rendered temporarily unusable. (Chapters 2109–2110)
Abilities and properties
- Physical contact allows the Blade to sever or rewrite a target's connection to a Law or comparable source of power; it removes Sharnoth's access to Chaos rather than simply dispersing one attack. (Chapters 2107 and 2109)
- The relic does not erase the underlying power permanently. Destroying the Blade reconnects Sharnoth to Chaos, while the consequences of incompatible energy already within her body remain. (Chapter 2109)
- As an Infinity Relic, it is normally self-repairing and extraordinarily difficult to damage. Nux's complete destruction of it erases Zarveth's connection and prevents that recovery. (Chapter 2109)
