Lane

Lane Wynee is one of Nux's earliest wives and the Leander family's most constant close-range protector. She begins as Felberta's reserved maid and guard, but deliberately rebuilds herself as a Shadow Demon so that she can remain in Nux's shadow. Her defining Law takes that desire further: she can recreate her body from his shadow and return from death while he lives, at the price of tying her own existence to his. The same transformation also gives rise to Shadow Lane, whose eventual independence forces Lane to confront a hidden part of herself as a separate person.

Biography

A quiet guard in the Alveye household

Lane first appears as a twenty-six-year-old Advance Stage human serving Felberta alongside Skyla. Although both women are introduced as maids, their cultivation also makes them practical protection for the otherwise vulnerable viscount. Lane is quieter than Skyla and less likely to lead a conversation, but she is not passive: she notices irregularities, evaluates danger, and follows the household into training and beast hunting as Nux's arrival changes their lives.
