Kelton

Kelton Ackerg is Amaya's longtime butler, confidant, and operational intermediary in the Thousand Information Chamber. More a father figure than a servant to the isolated princess, he protects her fabricated “curse,” investigates her apparent death, and continues serving as an information broker until his death during the long years of separation that follow.

Biography

The trusted man behind the Chamber

Kelton first appears receiving a report from a Chamber spy. The spy mistakenly calls him the organization's leader, but Nux's appraisal identifies him as its vice leader; Amaya is the actual mind behind the network. Kelton handles the daily reports and social contact that Amaya dislikes, making him both her public intermediary and one of the few people allowed into her private routine. She has trusted and respected him since childhood and thinks of him as more father than subordinate. (Chapters 184–200)

Nux's covert visits repeatedly leave Kelton unconscious, but Amaya never interprets those defeats as a failure of loyalty. When she stages the worsening of her Devouring Mist as a curse, Kelton accepts the danger as real and calls the King for help. Amaya's disappearance and an independent investigation

After Raguel's assassination operation, Kelton finds Amaya's locked room empty and blood inside. Believing she has been taken or killed, he panics and asks Reeve for Shadow Unit assistance. Reeve cannot abandon the simultaneous investigation into Lovis, so Kelton pursues the evidence himself despite having neither royal authority nor certainty that Amaya is alive. (Chapters 443–445)

Kelton reports what he knows about Nux to Riona and later helps coordinate access to the Skyfall Shadow Unit. Amaya briefly considers placing Nux's Slave Seal on him so he can act as an unquestionable spy, a choice she dislikes but is willing to make for Nux. Riona instead volunteers for the seal, and Kelton is not enslaved. He subsequently waits with the summoned Shadow Unit while Evane and Nux reorganize the kingdom's covert forces. Amaya later recruits another information specialist because she “needs another Kelton,” implying that he is no longer available to fill his former role. After returning from an extended training absence, she explicitly learns that many old subordinates, including Kelton, have died. Appearance and personality

He is formal, cautious, protective, and deeply loyal to Amaya. Her safety can override his composure: her disappearance leaves him sleepless, tearful, and angry enough to confront a prince's faction in the Royal Hall. Abilities and cultivation

Kelton is a Grand Master Stage mana cultivator with high measured talent. He controls a black mist far more precisely than the spy Royce Tatume, using it to veil his body and identity. The technique resembles Riona's later dark mist and is explicitly distinguished from Amaya's Devouring Mist as a lesser imitation; it has no demonstrated devouring effect. His main competence is intelligence work rather than direct combat. Kelton receives and synthesizes Chamber reports, investigates a sealed-room disappearance, finds witnesses, and coordinates covert personnel.
