Cyneheard Fulvanius

Cyneheard Fulvanius is the King Stage ancestor who protects the Fulvanius Duke House and the father of Thornton and Gibson. He understands the political danger created by his descendants' failed assassinations, but ultimately chooses another attempt on Evane's life. Nux defeats and kills him, and his body becomes evidence against the house.

Biography

Trying to contain the Fulvanius crisis

Cyneheard enters after Thornton, Gibson, and his great-grandson Raguel have arranged attacks on a prince, a princess, and a royal consort. Furious at the scale of their mistake, he singles out Gibson for failing to restrain the less capable Thornton. When Thornton insults him, Cyneheard beats his son unconscious and reminds the family that his strength, not Thornton's title, determines who makes the house's rules. (Chapters 461–462)

His initial response is political containment. Cyneheard correctly predicts that rival Duke houses will use the failed attack to demand compensation and seek Astaria's judgment rather than risk direct war. He proposes severing every visible tie to the dead assassins and claiming innocence. When Gibson warns that the evidence may still be overwhelming, however, Cyneheard accepts that the house may have no safe solution and resolves to use all its strength against Evane if necessary. Protecting Fulvanius power thus moves him from damage control into a second assassination plot. (Chapter 462)

The failed ambush and its consequences

Cyneheard joins Raguel and two Skadi King Stage cultivators in the ambush meant to kill Evane. Learning that she has unexpectedly reached the King Stage and has another King beside her does not make him withdraw; he calculates that three Kings and their soldiers should still defeat two. That assessment ignores the gap between ordinary Kings and Nux. Nux kills the soldiers in one attack, then slams Cyneheard down and pins all four of his limbs with black-purple spikes before he can mount an effective counterattack. (Chapters 490–492)

Unable to move, Cyneheard endures the Skadi cultivators' combined fire blast when they use the explosion as cover to flee. He later recognizes Ember and tries to expose Nux as the real power behind Evane. When Raguel offers to kill him in exchange for mercy, Cyneheard points out that betraying a longtime supporter only proves Raguel's disloyalty. Nux finally drives a spike through Cyneheard's heart, then preserves his body as proof. Evane presents it at court to force Gibson into an impossible choice between admitting Raguel's involvement and accusing Evane of attacking the Fulvanius house directly. (Chapters 492–495)

Appearance and personality

Cyneheard appears to be in his early sixties and is repeatedly described as an old man. The corpus gives no stable account of his hair, eyes, clothing, height, or build. His face is burned by the Skadi cultivators' explosion after Nux immobilizes him. (Chapters 461 and 492)

He is authoritarian, politically alert, and ruthless toward his own family. His analysis of the rival houses is more realistic than Raguel's hopes, and he recognizes both Astaria's deterrent power and Ember's identity. Those strengths coexist with a fatal willingness to protect family status through further murder and with a poor estimate of Nux's strength. Even while dying, he remains composed enough to expose the flaw in Raguel's attempted betrayal. (Chapters 461–462 and 490–494)

Abilities and cultivation

Cyneheard is a King Stage cultivator and the protector of Fulvanius House. Against Thornton, he crosses the distance before his son can react, smashes him into the floor, and beats him unconscious within minutes. This demonstrates superior speed and physical strength against a weaker family member, not a named martial technique. (Chapter 462)

His only battle against another King ends before he can display an ability: Nux appears directly in front of him, overpowers him physically, and pins his limbs with spikes. Cyneheard assumes the large spike attack must have consumed substantial Mana, but that is an incorrect tactical guess rather than insight into Nux's limits. The corpus gives Cyneheard no affinity, spell, weapon, cultivation method, Domain, Law, defensive technique, or stage progression. (Chapters 491–494)

Cyneheard survives extensive blunt trauma, impalement through all four limbs, and severe burns for a short time, but a spike through the heart kills him. The scene does not establish supernatural regeneration or a special endurance ability; his resilience is only shown in the context of King Stage cultivation. (Chapters 491–494)

• Gibson: Gibson is Cyneheard's son and the descendant from whom he expects better judgment. After Cyneheard's death, Gibson is politically trapped by the use of his father's body as evidence. (Chapters 461–462 and 494–495)

• Nux: Cyneheard badly underestimates Nux, who immobilizes and later kills him. Cyneheard nevertheless recognizes that Nux, rather than Evane, is the force determining the confrontation. (Chapters 491–494)
