Aragorn

Aragorn Grimal is Rune's former husband and the political organizer behind her early support in Feline Cat City. Their admired marriage hides a lifelong assignment from Willow: Aragorn was raised to win Rune's heart, monitor her, and eventually help her brother Felix remove her from the succession.

Biography

A marriage built to control Rune

Publicly, Aragorn and Rune are an enviable power couple. Rune builds strength and popular support while Aragorn courts the city's clans, securing roughly two-thirds of them for her succession claim. Rune remains loyal despite his infertility and rejects political marriages that could give her children, while Aragorn appears affectionate and resourceful enough to replace every lost ally with more support. (Chapters 901–902)

The arrangement was engineered before they met. Aragorn's mother served Willow, and Aragorn agreed from birth to target Rune in exchange for elite cultivation resources. After Willow was declared dead, he briefly believed himself free; when she resurfaced, he followed her direction to support Felix, report Rune's movements, and turn the clan trust he had cultivated against his wife. The resources and easy assignment are his stated motive, while the corpus never establishes that his professed love outweighed the mission he accepted. (Chapters 939–944)

The false accusation collapses

Felix and Aragorn arrange Rune's apparent assassination, then accuse her of betraying Feline Cat City to Skythorn Falcon City. Aragorn claims to have discovered compromising letters and burned his life force disposing of her body. Rune, who had anticipated the plot and faked her death, enters the city meeting alive and exposes their story before her father and the clan leaders. The alliance structure Aragorn spent centuries building can no longer protect him once its central evidence is revealed as a fabrication. (Chapters 925–935)

Rune imprisons Aragorn instead of executing him because Amaya suspects he predates Felix's turn against her and may connect the conspiracy to Willow. Under interrogation, a Mystic Parasite permanently destroys half his cultivation, reducing him from Semi Saint to Initial Great Sage, and Nux then coerces him into accepting a Slave Seal. Unable to lie without severe pain, Aragorn identifies Willow's network around both Rune and Felix and reveals that Rune was ultimately meant to die. His confession helps dismantle the hidden operation, but it comes through torture and compulsion rather than voluntary atonement. (Chapters 939–951)

Disappearance under Nux's control

Public reports say that Rune executes Willow's captured subordinates while Aragorn simply disappears. Nux has in fact taken custody of him as a slave. Years later Rune asks where he went; Nux says Aragorn is “not in the best condition” and offers a meeting, which she refuses because she no longer cares to see him. Nux later admits that he kidnapped Aragorn and forced out his “secrets” while trying to understand how Rune had once fallen in love with him. (Chapters 959, 1153–1156, and 1487)

No release, recovery, death, or restoration of cultivation is shown, and the corpus never returns to his own viewpoint. His latest narrative function is as the betrayal Rune must stop using as the standard for every future relationship rather than as a subordinate whose fate receives closure. (Chapters 1487 and 1492)

Appearance and personality

Aragorn has brown hair, green eyes, catlike ears, and sharp facial features. He presents a warm, hearty smile around Rune and performs romantic affection convincingly enough to sustain their marriage for more than two millennia. (Chapter 902)

Behind that presentation he is opportunistic, cowardly under pain, and willing to trade another person's trust for resources and security. He is also a capable long-term organizer: the clans he recruits trust him personally, not merely Rune. Once exposed, he blames Felix, appeals to Rune's old feelings, and repeatedly lies until physical compulsion removes that option. (Chapters 901–945)

Abilities and cultivation

Aragorn is originally a Semi Saint whose growth was supported by cultivation resources supplied through Willow's network. The corpus gives no affinity, cultivation method, named combat technique, or representative victory. His most consequential skill is political cultivation of clan leaders, which produces a durable support bloc but is not an innate power. (Chapters 901–904 and 942–943)

A Mystic Parasite used on him is an external weapon, not his ability. The creature inflicts escalating internal agony and devours half his foundation, permanently lowering him to Initial Great Sage and making further cultivation impossible. The process cannot be stopped midway, and its damage creates the lower-stage opening Nux needs for a Slave Seal. (Chapter 942)

The Slave Seal forces obedience and triggers extreme pain when Aragorn lies or thinks of betrayal. These effects belong to Nux's seal, not Aragorn; he accepts only after being threatened with renewed parasite torture. At his latest confirmed state he can be ordered to freeze and confess, with no demonstrated counter or path back to Semi Saint. (Chapters 943–945 and 1156)

Aragorn is innately infertile, a condition even Elven treatment could not cure. This is a biological limitation rather than a combat weakness, but it shapes Rune's succession because she refuses other husbands and Felix's descendants are designated as the next line. (Chapter 901)

Relationships

• Rune: Rune loves Aragorn for more than two thousand years and makes political sacrifices for their marriage. His mission and fabricated accusation destroy her trust in romance; she later rejects any interest in seeing him again. (Chapters 901–945 and 1153–1156)
• Felix: Aragorn serves as Felix's covert ally while secretly answering to the deeper network around Willow. They jointly accuse Rune, then are exposed and imprisoned when her staged death fails. (Chapters 925–945)
• Willow: Willow recruits Aragorn through his mother before his birth, funds his cultivation, and orders him to monitor Rune. Aragorn fears her ruthlessness and knows only his compartment of her plan. (Chapters 943–944)
• Nux: Nux helps uncover Aragorn, oversees his torture, binds him with the Slave Seal, and removes him from public view. Nux later treats him as a failed model he should never have compared himself against. (Chapters 902–945, 1156, and 1487)
• Melia: Melia deploys the Mystic Parasite that destroys Aragorn's cultivation. She warns that the process is painful and unstoppable, then passes control of the creature to Nux after the interrogation. (Chapters 942–944)

• Fabricated letters: Aragorn presents letters bearing Skythorn Falcon City's stamp as proof that Rune betrayed her city. They are planted evidence supporting Felix's public accusation, not genuine correspondence found by Aragorn. (Chapters 932–935)
• Mystic Parasite: Aragorn never owns this creature; Melia uses it on him as a torture and cultivation-destroying implement. It permanently reduces his foundation and cannot be halted once activated. (Chapter 942)
