Amletus

Amletus was the ruler of Skadi Kingdom and one of the four Emperors who divided the Forgotten Continent. His reign combined overwhelming personal authority with a willingness to bargain away rivals, but his attempt to seize Amaya's cultivation secret brought him into conflict with Nux and ended both his life and Skadi's independence.

Biography

An emperor sustained by fear and secrecy

Before he appears in person, Amletus is defined by the pressure his rule placed on his own family. Skadi custom called for people with the Devouring Mist Physique to be killed, and Riona believed that even her position as his granddaughter would not have saved Amaya if Amletus learned the truth. She therefore sent her daughter away and lived with the risk that the Emperor's law would eventually discover them. His authority was treated as absolute inside Skadi, even though later comparisons placed him last in strength among the continent's four Emperors. (Chapters 471 and 789)

That authority was paired with caution rather than openness. Amletus warned Riona away from the Forbidden Region because of the mythical beast believed to live there, then personally pressured her after two King Stage cultivators died. He wanted her to stop investigating Solid Earth Kingdom, and his interrogation made clear that kinship did not outweigh obedience. Riona bowed to him as sovereign, but their exchange exposed the mistrust already separating them. (Chapters 477–478 and 547–548)

The reason for his interference was political. Amletus had secretly aligned with Herms, the Emperor of Solid Earth, in a plan directed against Alcimus and Astaria. The intended reward was a division of their rivals' territory. By choosing a private bargain over solidarity among the continent's rulers, Amletus made Skadi dependent on a conspiracy whose success required Riona to remain ignorant and compliant. (Chapter 579)

The granddaughter he tried to exploit

Riona eventually approached Amletus with Amaya at her side and disclosed that Amaya could cultivate despite possessing the forbidden physique. Amletus immediately reframed the young woman as a dynastic resource: he welcomed her as a granddaughter only after recognizing that her method could strengthen Skadi's lineage and legacy. Amaya, however, used the audience to test what he knew about the Solid Earth alliance rather than surrender her secret. (Chapters 580–581)

Amletus recognized the trap and abandoned the pretense of familial warmth. He threatened to kill both women unless they handed over the technique and struck Riona aside when she resisted. The choice confirmed the fear that had driven Riona to hide Amaya in the first place: when confronted with a cultivation advantage, he valued possession of it above their lives. (Chapters 581–582)

Nux had entered concealed and killed Amletus before the Emperor could carry out that threat. The text shows Amletus abruptly decapitated and Nux revealing himself afterward; it does not name a technique or fully explain how the killing blow bypassed the Emperor's awareness. Nux, Riona, and Amaya then concealed the death and brought the palace servants under control, leaving Skadi in their hands while outsiders were told that Amletus was ill. Herms later inferred that his ally had died, ending the conspiracy without Amletus ever receiving its promised territory. (Chapters 582, 585–586, and 595)

Later Trial Tower chapters reconstruct an alternate scenario in which Amletus and Herms are again alive and allied. Those scenes are part of the trial's simulated history, not a resurrection in the main continuity, and therefore do not change Amletus's deceased status. (Chapters 1413–1423)

Appearance and personality

Amletus had black hair and black eyes and wore gold-and-white clothing. His arrival carried a suffocating pressure strong enough to make his imperial rank immediately apparent. (Chapter 547)

He was proud, guarded, and authoritarian. He treated information as a resource to be controlled, attempted to frighten Riona away from questions that endangered his alliance, and shifted rapidly from grandfatherly approval to lethal coercion when Amaya would not submit. His concern about the Forbidden Region shows that he was not blindly reckless, but that caution did not extend to recognizing the danger of a concealed opponent in his own palace. Abilities and cultivation

Emperor Stage cultivation

Amletus was an Emperor Stage Mana cultivator. His power came from ordinary cultivation and control of surrounding Mana; the corpus does not establish when he reached the stage, his elemental affinity, or a named cultivation method. His aura alone was oppressive, and he could knock the King Stage Riona away with casual force. His position as one of the continent's four Emperors made him overwhelmingly stronger than Skadi's ordinary cultivators, although he was later described as the weakest member of that group.
