Lucien

Lucien is the name Lux bore during his former life on Earth. He is not a separate contemporary character or an unrelated namesake: the same soul accepts the Heaven’s Gate Project, reincarnates without its prior memories, later uses “Lucien” as an alias while disguised, and eventually revisits the family of that former life.

Biography

Awakening and Leaf Village

Hours after dying on Earth, the twenty-year-old Lucien accepts an Angel’s offer to enter the Heaven’s Gate Project because he wants a fuller life than the one he lost. He chooses a red-haired, green-eyed male Half-Elf body of noble lineage and selects a random High-Tier Skill as his divine free benefit. Max explains that Lucien was chosen because he endured an abusive life until its natural end and asks him to change a world’s fate. The reincarnation misfires, leaving the child Lux unable to remember Lucien and poorly synchronized with his soul until Eriol intervenes. Lucien’s choices therefore establish Lux’s designed identity and Skill Evolution, while the memory loss prevents the new life from being a simple continuation of his old personality. (Chapters 2–4, 7)

Abyssal invasion and broken memories

After later recovering knowledge of his past, Lux returns to Earth and meets Lucien’s family while presenting himself as Lucien’s friend. He tests their reactions because his mother and siblings had treated him as a shame while he was alive, and he distrusts their sorrow after his death. This encounter confirms that the present visitor and the deceased Lucien share identity and memories; it is not a meeting between two friends. The scene forces Lux to examine the family wound his reincarnation did not erase, but he retains his current name and life rather than reclaiming Lucien as a separate persona. (Chapter 1110)

Appearance and personality

In his Earth life, Lucien is a chubby twenty-year-old who describes himself as having accomplished little and having endured sustained rejection from his family. He is self-deprecating, cautious about danger, hungry for affection, and capable of comic opportunism, yet his refusal to end his own life is framed as endurance. The handsome red-haired Half-Elf appearance belongs to the body he designs and later inhabits as Lux. When Lux uses “Lucien” during a chubby human disguise in Gweliven, that look is another concealment rather than Lucien’s original body returning. (Chapters 2–4, 356, 408)

Abilities and skills

Lucien demonstrates no combat ability before death. His consequential choice is the random High-Tier Skill option, which manifests in Lux’s later status as Skill Evolution [EX], an ability that can evolve one chosen skill after its requirements are met. Lux’s status also contains Immortal Conqueror’s Legacy, but the supplied scenes do not identify that constitution as the benefit Lucien selected, so the two should not be conflated. All necromancy, disguise, summoning, and battlefield feats performed under the name “Sir Lucien” in Gweliven are Lux’s developed powers used behind an alias, not an independent Lucien power set. The original reincarnation’s memory loss is another clear limitation: the new body initially cannot access the former life at all. (Chapters 3–4, 7, 356–412)

Relationships

  • Lux — Lucien’s reincarnated self. The names describe successive identities of one soul, and “Lucien” later becomes Lux’s temporary cover name. (Chapters 2–7, 356–412, 1110)
  • Max — The God of Gamblers who selects Lucien for the Heaven’s Gate Project, gives him a free benefit, and sends him toward rebirth. (Chapters 3–4)
  • Eriol — The God of Games who identifies Lux’s damaged reincarnation and lack of Lucien’s memories, then helps synchronize his new life. (Chapter 7)
  • Princess Anastasia — She knows disguised Lux as Sir Lucien during the Wolfpine crisis and learns in private that his real current name is Lux. (Chapters 383, 403, 408)
  • Lucien’s Earth family — Their rejection shaped his former life; Lux later returns as an ostensible friend to judge whether their response to his death is sincere. (Chapters 4, 1110)
